Responsible for moves and adds of servers, storage, and network related data center equipment from a physical perspective.
This individual will work closely with Client Data Center Operations employees to consolidate collocation spaces within our Dallas, Texas collocation facility and install hardware being shipped to our Dallas facility from other Client collocation facilities.
This individual will also assist with basic server hardware troubleshooting.
Remove servers that are being relocated within the facility, and install them into new cabinet locations. Install servers that are being shipped from other Client collocation facilities into existing cabinets.
Cable up servers that have been moved within the site or shipped to the site from other locations, after installing them into cabinets.
Inventory servers that are being made ready for retirement and properly package the servers so they can be sent off to Client's preferred recycling company.
Work with the onsite team to properly dispose of or recycle items that are no longer needed within the site such as old cabling, hard drives, etc.
Skills
6-9 years of experience working in a medium to large scale global IT operation, minimum of 500 servers. Strong understanding of Data Center best practices.
Experience with multiple hardware vendors such as servers, SAN or NAS storage, and network
Experience with ticket tracking systems such as Jira, Remedy, etc.
Ability to lift 40 or more lbs individually or up to 100lbs with assistance.
Detail oriented with prior experience installing servers, storage and hardware.
Support and execute project related tasks accurately and on time.
Troubleshoot server hardware related failures.
Be available after hours or on the weekends to support projects when needed.
Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
Team player who works well with others and follows directions.
