Job Responsibility: 

The Privacy and Data Protection Office (PDPO) coordinates privacy-related initiatives across Product Areas and functions to help maintain a user-first privacy focus, invest in constructive relationships with regulators and key opinion formers worldwide, and ensure that ongoing privacy strategy work is conducted with transparency and accountability. As the job of privacy moves beyond law, policy, and compliance and into operations and the actualization of information technology, organizations have begun training, hiring, and generally seeking out "Privacy Engineers" to fill the gap left between policy and implementation.

As a Privacy Engineer, you will be part of the Privacy Engineering domain within the Data Protection Office, reporting to the Head of Privacy Engineering, AzP Group, managing current and forthcoming privacy regulations, translating regulatory requirements into privacy by design principles, and ensuring design capabilities are built that respect the user. You will work with our Legal, Engineering, Innovation, Digital and other partners to build excellent products that simultaneously grow and protect users and communities.

Key Responsibilities :

•    Partner with cross-functional leaders focused on long-term objectives, and with legal, digital, innovation and product teams on meeting our commitments.
•    Guide Engineering teams during product development to ensure that data collection and usage practices are transparent, protect user privacy, and mitigate risk.
•    Lead teams to excellent privacy outcomes for AzP and its users and play a role in AzP’s product design process and launch cycle.
•    Discover innovative ways to solve trickey privacy complexities and make sure executive decision makers have the right information and analysis available to make excellent decisions.
•    Oversee implementation of solutions to ensure privacy policies are correctly embedded. The implementations should advance compliance with legal forms of data use as well as support business use of data.
•    Work to align advanced technologies and Privacy by Design principles from the first stages of development and ensure that the data use meets established regulatory compliance needs. 
•    Interacting with internal privacy program managers, product development teams, legal, compliance, governance, architecture, innovation and data protection teams. 
•    Responsible for assisting with the management of the data privacy, data protection, data usability, performance and the integrity of the privacy solution.
•    Interact with project heads and managers to review system requirements and/or necessary modifications to new or existing software.
•    Interface with other developers and architects in implementing big data solutions that enable the business to be
data driven while protecting the data assets.
•    Interface with usability team to ensure user-facing privacy controls are usable.
•    Advice teams on the use of data anonymization, pseudonymization and encryption to develop systems that preserve and improve privacy protections.
•    Acts as key interface to data science and analytics communities both within and outside of the organization.

Key Requirement :


•    Bachelor's/master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology/Systems, Privacy Engineering or equivalent practical experience (~3-5 years in privacy).
•    Experience with technical privacy issues (i.e., cookie management, encryption, dark patterns, etc.).
•    Experience with the software development lifecycle and achieving excellent user outcomes.
•    CIPT Certification (optional but desirable).

Knowledge and Skills:


•    Experience in implementing or assessing the implementation of GDPR, CCPA or equivalent privacy regulation.
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate designs,
proposals, and results; and negotiate options at management levels.
•    Ability to communicate technical privacy issues within a corporate environment and the implications to
other areas of the business.
•    Experience in communicating cross-functionally (e.g., engineering, legal, policy, etc.). Collaborating with
compliance and policy teams, government entities, or external privacy-focused community members.
•    Ability to balance risks in ambiguous and complex situations.
•    Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, in particular in leading or contributing to global and multifunctional teams.
•    Highly motivated to contribute and grow within a complex area of emerging importance.
•    Experience or understanding of software applications design tools and languages
•    Understanding of design for software applications running on multiple platforms.
•    Understanding of testing, coding and debugging procedures.
•    Demonstrated working knowledge of software engineering fundamentals.
•    Competent in the interpretation of numeric data, an understanding of statistical principles.
•    Data literacy: finding and managing data, cleansing data, manipulating data.
•    Ability to perform operations on large datasets.
•    Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
•    This is a Global role so the candidate would be supporting the Americas, APAC and European regions. So, dealing with various time zones will need to be managed.
