Job description
- Apply machine learning and AI techniques to analyze data and generate predictive insights.
- Develop and integrate advanced analytics models within Azure Synapse and Power BI dashboards.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to translate business needs into data science projects.

Skills needed to be successful
- Strong understanding of laboratory workflows and processes: This allows the Data Scientist to identify relevant features and patterns within the LIMS data.
- Familiarity with clinical data and its limitations: Knowledge of test types, reference ranges, and potential data anomalies ensures accurate interpretation and analysis.
- Awareness of clinical terminology and procedures: Ability to communicate findings in terms understandable to lab directors and clinical staff.
- Understanding of relevant clinical research methods and statistical analysis: This helps in designing reliable and impactful clinical studies, particularly if predictive models are involved.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills: Ability to identify research questions, formulate hypotheses, and analyze data to find meaningful insights.
- Collaboration and communication skills: Effectively work with other scientists, engineers, and clinical staff to understand their needs and communicate findings clearly.
- Ability to prioritize and manage workflow: Manage multiple projects and tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and deliver impactful results.
- Experience working with healthcare data and regulations: Knowledge of regulations like HIPAA and data privacy protocols for secure and compliant data handling.
- Strong foundational knowledge in data science: Proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and modeling techniques.
- Experience with big data tools and platforms: Familiarity with platforms like Azure Synapse and related tools for data handling and processing.
- Programming skills: Expertise in languages like Python or R for data manipulation, model development, and analysis.
- Data visualization and communication skills: Ability to generate insightful visualizations and communicate complex findings effectively to the clinical audience.
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of experience with the following or similar:
- Data Exploration and Analysis: Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Monitor, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Explorer, Power BI
- Machine Learning and AI: Azure Machine Learning, Azure Cognitive Services, Azure AutoML
- RDBMS design (SQL Server, T-SQL, Oracle, etc.)
- Power BI Python and R Integration, Power Query M Language
Preferred Experience & Education
- Knowledge of scientific data software, medical devices, or healthcare software
