Job description

You will be responsible for conducting geological research and studies related to marine environments. This role involves analyzing seabed topography, sediment composition, geological structures, and other marine geologic features to support various projects such as offshore exploration, environmental assessments, and coastal engineering.

Key Responsibilities: Plan and execute marine geological surveys using specialized equipment and techniques such as multibeam sonar, seismic profiling, and sediment coring. Collect and analyze geological data including bathymetry, sub-bottom profiles, sediment samples, and geological formations. Interpret geological data to understand the geological history and processes shaping marine environments. Conduct site investigations for offshore infrastructure projects, submarine cable routes, and marine resource exploration. Evaluate geological hazards and geotechnical characteristics of seabed substrates for engineering feasibility studies. Provide geological input for site selection and foundation design. Assess the impact of human activities on marine ecosystems through geological studies. Evaluate sediment quality, contamination levels, and ecological risks associated with coastal development, dredging, and offshore operations. Provide recommendations for mitigating environmental impacts and ensuring sustainable marine resource management. Conduct research on marine geological processes, sediment dynamics, and paleoenvironmental reconstruction. Analyze geological data sets using GIS, remote sensing, and geospatial software.

Qualifications and Experience: Master's or Ph.D. degree in Geology, Marine Geoscience, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in marine geological research and fieldwork. Proficiency in marine geological survey techniques and equipment. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in geological data analysis software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment. Knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines for marine environmental assessments and resource management.

Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel for fieldwork and project assignments. Experience with project management and proposal writing is desirable. Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. Fluency in English (additional languages may be advantageous).
