Director, Data Platform Engineering What Will You Do - Lead development of centralized data platform solutions to build scale , consistency, and speed in metric computation and retrieval
- Improve data developer productivity through implementation of automation, self-service, and streamlined data platform experience s
- Manage data pipelines and reporting features for cloud cost management , insights, and platform cost optimization s .
- Define, measure, and be accountable for platform operational resilience and software quality assurance ( e.g. unit testing, service level objectives, incident response, etc.)
- D efin e objectives , milestone and metrics to provid e clarity forengineering teams and stakeholders
- Keep the organization informed by preparing materials and communication about initiative progre s s, capabilities, and roadmaps .
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and program partners to scope, prioritize, and solution data platform services to achieve measurable business outcomes
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts that impair the team's ability to meet short-term and long-termgoals.
- Engage team members with learning & development activities
- I mplement ing best practices for hiring and retaining top talent
Who You Are - 12+ years of experience as a Software or Data Engineer and 5+ years in a people management role building high performance engineering teams, preferably in the data domain
- Leader with experience building and operating data platform s and data tooling in a large enterprise environment .
- E xperience d people manager who has organized and developed other managers and high-performing teams of at least 20.
- A thought leader who can craft a compelling technology vision for change and influence action with partner teams.
- Have prior coding & development experience with commonly used programming languages in data or software engineering
- Experience d with tools and frameworks for data processing, stream technology, scheduling, data quality , query engines , and cost optimization .
- Prior experience with cloud cost management, FinOps, and cost optimization techniques is a plus
- Effective verbal and written communicat or with the ability to think strategically about technology decisions and manage relationships with stakeholders and senior leadership
- BS or MS in c omputer s cience, m athematics, engineering, or related field
