Role:

As a Research Director within Avasant Research, you will manage a multi-themed technology data and research program while also developing into an industry-acknowledged analyst.
The ideal candidate will enjoy investigating and writing about current trends in business IT. He or she will have strong quantitative skills and will be comfortable in running large-scale survey-based research programs. He or she will enjoy talking to IT professionals about IT financial management and technology trends and be able to discuss their business impact with senior executives. Previous work experience may include roles in research firms, journalism, IT management, consulting, or academia.
We hope to attract people who love bringing out the stories hidden in data through simple, readable language.  The ideal candidate will love coaching young analysts to make the best use of their skills.

• Participate in identifying, proposing, and managing new IT research projects for a tech and business leadership audience
• Design surveys to provide data behind the firm’s publications
• Manage primary research agencies and ensure high quality data collection.
• Conduct detailed data analysis to bring out effective insights presented both in long and short-form reports and infographics
• Investigate and write about current IT business trends
• Critically review and provide feedback on reports written by other analysts and contributors
• Write and edit content as needed
• Support the sales team by responding to inquiries from current and potential customers
• Talk to IT professionals and technology providers about current trends and economic factors that impact them
• Represent the company in responding to press inquiries, for attribution
• Have the opportunity to deliver presentations about the company’s research findings at events, tradeshows, seminars, and webinars.
• C ommunicate the publishing strategy to the team, and inspire high levels of performance and delivery
• Build relationships with subject matter experts to aid in the development of new research coverage

Requirements:

 

• MBA or equivalent from Tier 1 institutes. 12-16 years of experience in research, strategy, or consulting domains
• Candidates with significant experience with Big 4 or other strategy consulting firms. Previous work with leading tech industry analyst firms will be an advantage
• Significant exposure and interest in emerging technologies, with an inherent curiosity to analyze how they will impact the world
• Familiarity with business IT topics such as enterprise software, application development, business intelligence, cloud computing, security, data management, or networking.
• Strong aspiration to be known as an independent and respected industry voice in the technology space
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills – both written and verbal (English). Experience in writing to publication deadlines
• Experience in survey design and best practices for ensuring quality of response data.
• Strong analytical and reasoning skills
• Strong sense of ownership and adherence to quality and timelines
• Exceptional quantitative and data interpretation skills
