Job Purpose The Sr. Applications Analyst has a diverse set of responsibilities from helping lead IT specific activities related to a portfolio of apps to assessing business and a designing a new technical solution for satisfying a business need. The purpose of this role is to address the needs specifically for the Taxware application, integrations to and from Taxware, as well as other Tax applications.
Job Description Primary responsibility to act as a functional and technical solution advisor for our External Tax Engines, primarily, Taxware and SOVOS GTD for US use with the goal to expand the engine globally
- In this capacity the tax technologies analyst will act as a liaison between our Tax department and IT to ensure that we are deploying solutions that are best practice and fit for purpose. More specifically we will be asking you to help design and lead the Taxware upgrade to SOVOS Global Tax Determination Project as well as support of our existing Taxware engine (TWE 8.3.3) while the upgrade project completes.
- Collaborate with Tax to understand Global indirect engine requirements, design, build, test, deploy those requirements.
- Communicate effectively why the design is best practice over some alternative within Taxware or SOVOS GTD or other tax related technologies.
- Ensure the supportability of our indirect engine and other non-ERP tax applications to reduce the volume of future tickets. Some knowledge of SAP is useful for where there are integrations.
- Might have to collaborate with other ERP support teams (outside of SAP) to help design solutions for the tax department.
- Interact with the various tax software provider support to raise tickets as necessary for taxware, SOVOS GTD and potentially other tax technologies down the line
- Act as a bridge between the IT organization and tax business unit to propose improvements in our technical landscape within projects and support.
- Lead and coordinate discussions with the ERP SAP teams and tax department business stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Gather requirements related to new tax use cases and enhancements within Taxware, our ERPs and other tax applications.
- Design solutions which fulfill any new business requirements coming from the tax department
- Collaborate with business teams and our QA team to test requirements.
- Deploy solutions after business has completed testing and sign off of the solution.
- Provide technical guidance to other IT delivery/ ERP support teams as a technical tax SME.
- Collaborate with various IT teams to troubleshoot any support tickets escalated to the Tax technology support queue.
- Be willing to learn other tax technologies outside of SOVOS GTD and taxware. SOVOS APR is one such example.
- Serve as technical advisor for tax and help lead small enhancement delivery from initiation to closure, ensuring projects are completed following tax system best practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, helping implement best practices where applicable to deliver faster with improved quality for tax applications. Be willing to suggest improvements where applicable.
- Ensure project functional and technical documentation is maintained and organized.
- Work closely with the IT Delivery Teams to make sure the transition to support plans are in place and executed as part of a solution delivery.
- Provide technical information as part of a potential tax or tax technology specific audit
You Are Meant For This Job If - 3 to 5 years of experience in Taxware systems or other Tax Indirect Engines
- Experience deploying solutions to meet tax local statutory requirements such as UK MTD, Pillar 2 or other
- Experience troubleshooting issues within Taxware or SOVOS GTD are must have. Experience with SAP tax related configuration is a nice to have.
- Experience serving as technical advisor to Tax departments.
- Familiarity with basic taxability concepts such as withholding tax, state apportionments, income tax reporting and indirect tax determination.
- Bachelor's degree: Business Administration, Engineering, Finance or IT related field
- Capable of solving problems and managing multiple efforts simultaneously, escalating when necessary to allow for reprioritization of initiatives.
- High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, as well as external suppliers and organizations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Fluency in English
Additional Skills Experience in other tax applications such as Corptax, SOVOS APR, Vertex, Alphatax, Cooper Software MTD, etax and reporting solutions such as PowerBI.
