Role We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Data Platform Engineer to join my client's team. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining the cloud-based data platform infrastructure. You will play a critical role in the design and deployment of scalable and efficient data solutions, leveraging your expertise in cloud services like AWS or Azure, infrastructure as code (IaC), and a variety of cloud-based database technologies. Additionally, your proficiency in data platform and data science tooling will be essential in optimizing data workflows and enabling the data science team to extract actionable insights.
Responsibilities - Designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable cloud-based data platform infrastructure.
- Implementing infrastructure as code (IaC) principles to automate deployment processes and ensure consistency and repeatability.
- Leveraging cloud services like AWS or Azure to optimize data storage, processing, and analysis capabilities.
- Evaluating and implementing cloud-based database technologies to support diverse data requirements.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and requirements, and architecting solutions to meet them.
- Optimizing data platform and data science tooling to enhance productivity and enable efficient data workflows.
- Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with a focus on cloud-based data platform infrastructure.
- Extensive experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure, including proficiency in cloud-native services and tools.
- Strong background in infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Deep understanding of cloud-based database technologies (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Azure SQL, Google BigQuery).
- Familiarity with data platform and data science tooling (e.g., Apache Spark, TensorFlow, Jupyter Notebooks).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
