What you can look forward to
As CatLogistics Category Manager you will manage department activities for all logistics services categories across Svitzer AMEA Region (truck, rail, marine, terminals, warehousing, air, and/or 3PLs). Reporting to the Regional Procurement Manager, you will lead a small team of category managers to facilitate strategic sourcing processes and execute category plans to leverage volumes for the best total cost, supporting a holistic approach to supplier/carrier selection. You will provide data and analysis to support sourcing decisions, track spend, and drive supplier/carrier performance to ensure that every dollar spent is spent professionally and maximises Svitzer’s potential return.

What will you do
Your key responsibilities will be:
Manage rate/pricing/spend analysis requests for assigned categories.
Lead vendor qualification process for assigned categories.
Manage activities pertinent to assigned categories to achieve maximum productivity, cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Ensure timely responses to rate and cost analysis requests.
Assist preparing contracts and/or pricing sheets, as well as editing exhibits as needed, providing all revisions on time.
Establish a proper document management system for all freight activities and maintain records of work performed.
Implement and continuously improve import/export processes to enhance service level to field organisation.
Manage custom brokers and forwarding agents for Geozone and ensure compliance with all contracts in place.
Responsible and accountable for all processed shipments by ensuring that harmonized tariff codes are correctly applied, free trade agreements are fully utilized, and temporary/ permanent imports are properly managed aiming for a high level of efficiency (operation).
Review freight invoices for accuracy and routes to the manager for approval maintains positive and productive working relationships within the department and with other departments.
Maintain close communication with stakeholders, keeping all informed of conditions, activities, and trends in areas of responsibility which may have an impact on the business.
Ensure vendor set-up and ensures rates/routes are maintained and accurate in all systems.
Support supplier/carrier relationship management process, supplier/carrier performance reviews, and supplier/carrier development initiatives. Identifies supplier/carrier risks and category implications.
Conduct industry and market research to understand assigned categories and creates reporting for category managers and business stakeholders.
Provide savings tracking activities and reports realized savings on a continuous base; ensure realised savings tie back to departmental budgets.
Research and extract spending data from systems and create meaningful reporting to identify trends, performance metrics and issues.
Assist in the design and interface with the business of multi-year category management plans.
Work with the analyst to plan and test system reporting and ensure data is accurate and timely.
Partner with key internal/external stakeholders to support logistics systems roadmap.
Assist in the planning, design, and execution of strategic sourcing activities; facilitate the bidding (RFI/RFP/RFQ), supplier selection, and negotiation process.
Leverage the use of Transportation Management Systems and related technologies and infrastructure to drive business value.
Validate and monitor price adjustments and communicates changes to the affected stakeholders.
Always follow Svitzer’s carbon-neutral initiatives to minimize carbon emissions in our supply chains.
Who we are looking for
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
University degree or equivalent in supply chain, business administration or related field
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in procurement, logistics, supply chain, transportation or finance, preferably in the Marine and/or Oil & Gas industry.
Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), CITT-Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP) designation or equivalent is an advantage.
Knowledge of logistics spend categories.
Experience with logistics systems (TMS, Freight Audit and Payment, Sourcing).
Financial management and legal experience with complex contracts.
Strong project management and negotiation skills.
People leadership experience as a leader of others is preferred.
Strong Microsoft Office Excel skills (e.g. vlookup, pivot tables)
Strong organisation skills, leadership, effective delegation, forward-thinking and problem-solving
Flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive, motivate oneself and others.
Embrace fact-based decision-making; naturally seeks to leverage and/or integrate market data, spend analytics, and cost modelling.
