Technical Asset Operations (TAO)team aims to develop central, competitive capabilities delivering end-to-end value through the AMS work processes as an integral part of our Downstream Manufacturing (DS-M), Integrated Gas & New Energies (IGNE) and Upstream (UP) asset teams. We support the business worldwide and often do so together with the deep capability of our Project & Technology (P&T), Information Technology (IT) and Finance & Data Operations (FO-Data) partners. You are going to play a vital role in the delivery of continued efficiency and effectiveness improvement by bringing cross-business learning on key processes.
We are seeking a highly skilled candidate to facilitate remote support for Shell assets in the Downstream, Integrated Gas, and Upstream Chemical Engineering processes, specifically in the area of process control and procedural automation. The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Engaging in activities such as procedural automation opportunity framing and flow chart design & validation.
- Executing logic and graphic design from Control Narrative & flow chart, offline testing, technical demo, and factory acceptance test. Candidate Hands on Logics-Graphics of simple & Complex Loops and Sequence logic building, testing and implementation will be preferred.
- Assisting in procedural automation applications deployment and providing support for the tuning of controllers and timers.
- Participating in pre-FAT and effectively resolving FAT punch actions. Plant commissioning and operation experience.
- Assisting with the documentation updates, including control narrative/operator training package, technical reviews, operator training support, application deployment, and MOC close-out.
The role exposes the incumbent to Subject Matter Experts from Process Control Systems, Process, Production engineering as well as to other discipline engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting process monitoring tools, supporting and providing improvement ideas for process control, Base layer control (DCS) and advanced process control.
- Development of competencies within the Process Control Team
- Provide end-to-end support, from opportunity framing to deployment, for all Procedural Automation applications.
- Responsible for flowchart design, DCS programming, Function Testing in the MPDS (Multi-Purpose Dynamic Simulator) and generating implementation packages.
- Develop and implement procedural automation strategies to reduce operation downtime, ensure safe operations, and assist operations during upsets.
- Collaborate with counterparts and stakeholders across different operating units and data centers, fostering external connections with global Shell assets and subject matter experts.
- Contribute to the development of logic and graphic templates to enhance standardization and expedite project timelines.

- Plant commissioning and operation experience.
- Supporting team members on projects to enhance their technical knowledge.
- Shift work following operating hours of the upstream production sites. Resilient under pressure and able to work with people from different cultures and working styles.
Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical engineering or Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent qualifications.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry (operating refinery or petrochemicals).
- Overall Experience 4-6 experience in required skillset .
- Extensive hands-on experience in alarm management, base layer performance monitoring, logic modifications in DCS, graphic display design, and system support in the process control space.
- Executing logic and graphic design from Control Narrative & flow chart, offline testing, technical demo, and factory acceptance test. Candidate Hands on Logics-Graphics of simple & Complex Loops and Sequence logic building, testing and implementation will be preferred.
- Proven track record in end-to-end designing, developing, implementing, and commissioning DCS and automation packages.
- Expertise in Honeywell/Yokogawa/Emerson/Foxboro control systems, with advanced programming skills and system engineering knowledge.
- Preferably, possess configuration skills in ProcOps (Honeywell) or ExaPilot (Yokogawa).
- Plant commissioning and operation experience.
- Demonstrated experience in pre-FAT and FAT execution in both remote and on-site environments.
- Proficient in OPC and Asset Management, including PRM configuration.
- Previous work experience as a technologist in process control and automation is highly desirable.
- Industry experience in the Oil & Gas/Chemicals sector is a requirement.
- Solid understanding of instrumentation engineering, encompassing both field and control systems, is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Safety Instrument Function/Safety Integrity Level is preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Optional but good to have.
- Exposure in APC experience with PACE, SMOC, DMC.
- Exposure and knowledge in OTIS and Dynamic Simulation.
