About the position
Senior Cloud Solutions Architect will combine design thinking techniques, software development, networking skills, business domain know how and apply agile architecture principles to build high-quality solutions. You are a very experienced full-stack Engineer who has passion for application development, loves to analyze and tackle various technical challenges on the way. You will work with the business product owner and engineering teams to translate a business need into a robust and integrated technology solution to meet the Product vision and roadmap. You will provide your technical expertise in cloud solution architecture, application design and engineering of new products as well as improving existing ones using innovative and practical approaches aligned with the governance standards and current methodologies for Solutions business of Swiss Re. In this role, you will also be responsible for collaborating with global teams and external partners during all phases of the product development lifecycle.
Your responsibilities include:
- Architecture, Design, hands on engineering and development for our product solutions.
- Acquire and maintain an in-depth understanding of our product solutions landscape, underlying software architectures and constraints.
- Be in charge to design, maintain and extend architectures artifacts.
- Architecture, Design and Code reviews.
- Collaborate with peers to drive the full-stack application architecture best practices leveraging the modern cloud services for our product portfolio.
- Keep up with technology trends and identify promising new solutions that meet our requirements.
- Present ideas & architecture to wider team and business stakeholders with supporting reasoning.
- Active in shaping and developing product solution strategies, while using hands on experience.
- Mentor and Coach fellow tech leads & developers on Solution Architecture / Design & best practices
- Provides hands-on troubleshooting and consulting for solution challenges when needed
- Defining/improving standard methodologies for building, testing and deploying of applications
Qualifications
Experience Required
- University Degree in Computer Sciences or similar IT related fields
- Extensive background as (Lead/Senior) Cloud Solutions Architect
- 8 years experience relevant to this position
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud platform services and using Azure DevOps for CI-CD pipeline implementation leveraging Infrastructure as Code (Terraform is a plus)
- Azure Services - Cloud Native, Container, Functions, Stream Analytics, Data Factory, Data Bricks, Serverless architecture etc.
- Hands-on experience with Data modelling & physical modelling across structured & unstructured data storage and analytics
- Expertise in Microservices Architectures, programming languages and frameworks, API enablement and management, Systems Integration and Integration Patterns.
- 4+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Programming languages and backend frameworks: Node.js, C#, Golang and Python (a plus)
- Database: MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL DB,
- APIs: REST API design, development and API management on Azure
- Angular JS, React JS, HTML 5, CSS and responsive front-end development with modern UI/UX
- Experience using integrated development environments (e.g., Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, XCode, WebSphere)
- Experience in architecture, implementation and delivery of large-scale cloud and business solutions in real-world situations
- In-depth knowledge of cloud solution architecture methodologies and best practices Wide knowledge of emerging technology trends
- Experience with broad technology delivery, including custom development using various development languages Event Driven Architecture and Mesh Architecture
- Experience in agile software engineering with strong fundamentals
- Strong analytical skills, and address problems in a structured way, joining your own creative ideas and those of others.
- Strong communication (written, verbal, and presentation), influencing and negotiation skills
- Proven experience in collaborating and working with global business stakeholders.
- Ability to describe and document complex system architecture and processes in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Prior experience working in an Insurtech and/or product development organization a plus
- Prior experience working on Digital Transformation, Automation and AI/ML initiatives a plus
- Understanding and knowledge of insurance and reinsurance industry and products and services offered by various P&C insurance and reinsurance companies is a plus
- Experience defining a variety of solution types, such as new system builds, legacy enhancements, integrating COTS software packages, Software as a Service or Platform as a Service as components of the solution
- Experience with providing technical leadership on software engineering design, development, and frameworks, analysing alternatives, and presenting technical options to required stakeholders

The person hired in this role will be a part of the Data Analytics Solutions team within the Digital &Technology Re organization, responsible of the technology side of the Reinsurance Solutions business of Swiss Re
