Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Toxicologist to join our FMCG product intelligence application team. The candidate will be instrumental in analysing the health concerns associated with cosmetic and personal care product ingredients and developing our unique health impact rating system. This role demands a high level of expertise in toxicology, especially as it relates to consumer products, and a commitment to public safety and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the toxicity and safety of ingredients used in cosmetics and personal care products, employing both existing research and conducting new studies as needed.
- Work in tandem with Cosmetologists to assess the health impacts of product formulations, providing critical toxicological perspectives.
- Lead the development of standards and protocols for assigning health concerns to ingredients, setting the foundation for the health impact rating system.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and industry experts to ensure our health impact ratings meet current scientific and regulatory standards.
- Contribute scientific expertise to the enhancement of the cosmetic database, focusing on the inclusion of toxicological data.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommendations based on toxicological assessments and research findings.
- Stay abreast of scientific advancements, regulatory changes, and emerging concerns in the field of cosmetic toxicology.
- Support the development team in integrating health impact ratings into the FMCG products scanner app, ensuring accuracy and reliability of information.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Professional certifications (e.g. Indian board of Toxicologic Pathology (IBTP), PG Dip. in Regulatory Toxicology etc) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in toxicology, specifically related to Personal Care products or the cosmetic industry.
- Profound knowledge of toxicological testing methods, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret scientific research and data analysis.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
