JOB SCOPE

Role : Category Head

As the Category Head of Seafood Retail, you would be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the seafood retail operations within your organization. Your role would involve managing the product assortment, ensuring quality and freshness, driving sales, and enhancing the overall customer experience. Here are some key responsibilities and considerations for your role:

Product Assortment: Determine the seafood product assortment based on market demand, customer preferences, and industry trends. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure a reliable and diverse selection of fresh and frozen seafood products. Consider factors such as seasonal availability, sustainability, and local sourcing to curate a compelling product range.

Quality Assurance: Establish rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure the freshness, safety, and integrity of seafood products. Implement proper handling and storage protocols to maintain product quality throughout the supply chain. Monitor compliance with food safety regulations and standards, and conduct regular inspections and audits.

Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with seafood suppliers, both local and international. Negotiate favorable terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, and product quality. Evaluate supplier performance, conduct regular reviews, and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives. Seek partnerships with suppliers who align with your sustainability goals and ethical sourcing practices.

Sales and Promotion: Develop and execute sales and promotional strategies to drive customer engagement and increase sales. Collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling product displays, signage, and promotional materials. Implement pricing strategies, loyalty programs, and cross-selling opportunities to enhance customer value and encourage repeat business.

Customer Experience: Ensure an exceptional customer experience by providing knowledgeable and friendly staff, clean and inviting store environments, and convenient shopping experiences. Train and educate employees on seafood products, cooking techniques, and handling customer inquiries. Seek customer feedback and continuously improve service levels based on customer preferences.

Inventory Management: Optimize inventory levels to maintain product freshness, minimize wastage, and control costs. Utilize inventory management systems to track stock levels, monitor expiry dates, and implement replenishment processes. Analyze sales data, demand patterns, and seasonality to forecast and plan inventory requirements effectively.

Compliance and Sustainability: Stay updated on regulatory requirements related to seafood retail, including food safety, labeling, and traceability. Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations. Embrace sustainability practices, such as promoting responsible fishing methods, supporting seafood certifications, and minimizing environmental impact.

Market Analysis and Innovation: Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging seafood trends, consumer preferences, and competitive insights. Stay informed about new seafood products, packaging innovations, and technological advancements within the industry. Explore opportunities for product innovation, partnerships, and differentiation within the seafood retail landscape.

In addition to these responsibilities, effective communication, team management, and leadership skills are vital to collaborate with cross-functional teams, motivating staff, and achieving business goals.
