Job description
The University of Toronto (U of T) is a pioneering institution in teaching, research and entrepreneurship. The U of T India Foundation (UTIF) in Mumbai, India has a mandate to support and grow entrepreneurial activities in India, while building bridges between the Indian and Canadian entrepreneurship ecosystems and expertise and co-creating a model for entrepreneurship that leverages mutual and cross border expertise.
Reporting directly to the Country Head, the Entrepreneurship Manager will lead the Entrepreneurship vertical – one of the key pillars of the U of T India Foundation. The Entrepreneurship Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing partners in the Indian and Canadian entrepreneurship ecosystems, while looking for growth opportunities to expand the scope of activities and engagements of UTIF in the long term.
The Entrepreneurship Manager at UTIF will work closely with academic and administrative leaders at the University of Toronto as well as UTIF's Indian partners. Core activities of the role include Entrepreneurship program execution and development, collecting and analyzing program metrics and overseeing UTIF's Entrepreneurship partnerships and collaborations in support of U of T's entrepreneurship goals. The incumbent will also support and provide leadership toward the overall UTIF mandate to provide a high level of professional service to the University's entrepreneurship community including: faculty members, academic administrators, administrative staff and representatives of partner institutions and sponsor organizations. The incumbent provides a range of support and services to help ensure the smooth and effective operation of Entrepreneurship engagement at UTIF and beyond.
The incumbent serves as a key liaison with UTIF's key partners and oversees some junior UTIF entrepreneurship staff. The incumbent works in a highly dynamic environment that requires a high degree of sensitivity, responsiveness, and a need to maintain strict confidentiality. The incumbent must maintain a high degree of professionalism while interacting with senior administrators, faculty, staff, students, research sponsors and government representatives, etc. The incumbent must be a highly motivated and energetic individual who enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment that encourages creativity, problem-solving and innovation.
Core duties and responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation
· Working with the Country Head to develop the programming strategy, annual plans and budget for UTIF's Entrepreneurship vertical
· Maintaining an event calendar for Entrepreneurship activities
· Develop new and innovative pilot programs in India co-created with Indian partners
· Responsible for designing, planning and execution of programming, capacity building workshops done in collaboration with Indian and Canadian partners
· Work closely with partners to launch and convene problem statement-based grand challenges
Stakeholder Engagement
· Working with the Country Head to identify, develop and manage key partnerships with program partners, incubators, Indian academic institutions, and government bodies.
· Developing and maintaining a robust network of industry experts within the Indian and Canadian entrepreneurship ecosystems to build capacity, engagement and collaboration
Program Execution
· Execution of multi-stakeholder Entrepreneurship programs with government departments, academic institutes and program partners
· Plan and organize entrepreneurship workshops, seminars, and events
· Develop and adhere to detailed timelines for program activities to ensure all elements are executed efficiently
· Work closely with vendors, external partners and internal teams to meet deadlines, on budget, and resolve any logistical challenges that may arise
Performance Tracking and Management
Financial Reporting
· Preparation of quarterly budget, expense and program progress reports for UTIF Management, and/or funding partner(s)
· Provides input on quarterly planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects with the Country Head
· Monitoring program budgets to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations
Qualifications:
The individual must be a Citizen of India.
Salary (CTC): Rs. 45-50 lakhs (Based on prior experience)
