Job title: Mechanical Architect
You will be a part of Mechatronics & Manufacturing Systems group of Philips Innovation Engineering (approx. 95 FTE), is an organization, which supports the Philips Businesses in all aspects of Mechatronics system & testing equipment development (from consultancy until designing, building and Life Cycle Management).
Your role:
- For defining the structure of the sub-system that is to be developed, based upon customer requirements/product specifications and technology trends. He defines the way in which the subsystem has to be divided into separate components and/or modules.
- Formulating the technical roadmap for his subsystem, conducts innovation studies, and leads the introduction of new technologies.
- Jobholder comes to an understanding with E2E development concerning the hardware/Mechanical and software interfaces and other development architects concerning interfaces.
- By means of planned reviews he/she ensures - from technical point of view - that the efforts of the individual developers remain focused on properly functioning subsystems.
- Technically responsible for the correct functioning of the integrated sub-systems.
You're the right fit if:
- Completed engineering studies at University level BE/BTech/ME/M-Tech in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 12+ years of experience in design & development of system/sub-system.
- Creation of the Mechanical architecture in modular, easy to maintain and extendible (components and modules) and re-usable.
- Ensure that the proposed architecture would have the safety and reliability features build in along with performance criteria.
- Formulates the technical roadmap, relevant for his subsystem considering technologies, application trends, conducts Concept & Feasibility studies. Leads the introduction of new technologies.
- Contributes to the Work Breakdown Structure/ the planning process of his/her area. Draws up personal schedule and reports on progress.
- Expertise in design techniques, application domain and engineering. Keeps it up-to-date and propagates it.
- Experience with standard NPI / NPD process: Ideation to Industrialization.
- Familiar with latest engineering design and methods, tools, and processes.
- Experience in Medical Device development and knowledge of IEC 60601 standards will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of physics and hand calculation of the mechanical components for deciding strength, stiffness etc.
- Good Understanding of interfacing of Mechanical components with electrical components and software.
- Selection of the shelf component such as like Motors, belts , pulleys, Ball screw.
- Hands on Experience in Matlab, Simulink, Simscape.
- Hands on experience in structural design(Ansys or equivalent), CAD(Creo and Equivalent), Windchill PDM / PLM for managing lifecycle of the components,
- Knowledge in manufacturability considerations for Plastic, Sheetmetal, Casting Components.
- Expertise in conducting verification and experimental testing at components / subsystem level.
- Strong understanding of materials such as Different Metals, Polymers , Elastomers. Apply DFM/DFA concepts in design.
- Result oriented and Disciplined team worker, ability to guide team members.
- Strong communication skills to cater internal customers. Positive 'can do' attitude.
- Quality mindset in design and documentation.
