Job Description (JD):
Position: Mainframe Developer
Responsibilities:
- Cobol/PL1 Development:
- Design, code, and test software programs using Cobol and/or PL1 programming languages.
- Database Management:
- Work with DB2 for database management, including database design, development, and optimization.
- Job Control Language (JCL):
- Write and maintain Job Control Language (JCL) scripts for batch processing.
- CICS Integration:
- Integrate applications with Customer Information Control System (CICS) for transaction processing.
- VSAM Data Access:
- Utilize Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM) for efficient data access.
- IBM Rational Tools:
- Proficient in using IBM Rational tools, including Integrated Development Environment for System z (IDz), Rational Developer for z Systems (RDz), Rational Business Developer (RBD), and Rational Team Concert (RTC).
- Scripting with REXX:
- Develop and maintain scripts using REXX programming language.
- Job Scheduling:
- Use CA7 or any other scheduling tool to manage job schedules efficiently.
- Agile Development:
- Work in an Agile development setup, participating in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Qualifications:
- Solid experience in Cobol and/or PL1 development.
- Proficiency in DB2 for mainframe database management.
- Strong skills in writing and maintaining JCL scripts.
- Knowledge of CICS for transaction processing.
- Familiarity with VSAM for data access.
- Hands-on experience with IBM Rational tools (IDz, RDz, RBD, RTC).
- Proficient in scripting with REXX.
- Experience with job scheduling using CA7 or similar tools.
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Familiarity with mainframe technologies and environments.
- Knowledge of mainframe debugging tools and techniques.
- Experience with version control systems and code repositories.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
