Job Title: Cloud Engineer

Duration: 12 months

Client Location: Remote

Only US Citizens

Duration: A year working multiple engagements with fed govt clients

Onboarding process Both Background check and fingerprints required

No clearance level required at start but must be able to obtain Tier 2 clearance

Skills needed:

• Fed Govt experience a must
• Kubernetes a must
• Terraform Scripting a must
• all things cloud engineering.

SAS will provide the expertise necessary to successfully support clients daily operational needs within a FEDRAMP approved secure Government Cloud tenant. Core support will consist of developing and implementing recommended solutions; manage subscriptions and resources; implement and manage storage; deploy and manage virtual machines; Identity and Access Management; secure file transfer services; configure and manage virtual networks; and data base hosting services. In addition SAS will support the design and implementation of a cloud security services strategy for monitoring the IaaS PaaS SaaS solutions across the Cloud infrastructure.

This Cloud Engineer is required to develop in consultation with client an overall implementation plan and strategy that includes technical considerations published best practices and comprehensive organizational change management plan to provide a seamless implementation to the Cloud and the migration of existing client resources to the Cloud. The Cloud Engineer will also support other members of the SAS team when needed to establish and support the identified data analytics solution such as the SAS Viya Analytics solution which SAS is required to supply. Those tasks that other SAS team members will take the lead on will include the following highlevel tasks/requirements:

• Support client with the implementation of a data analytics environment in the cloud such as the SAS Viya Analytics solution.
• Support the system administration of the data analytics environment.
• Provide analytics solution support through informal knowledge transfer handson workshops and demonstrations.
• support the administration of clients cloud infrastructure related to the data analytics implementation.

Specific Cloud Infrastructure Support Tasks for Cloud Engineer

• Terraform scripting
• Network and Interconnectivity
• The Consultant shall review and advise on appropriate network and interconnectivity services. Identify regions network segmentation traffic flow management and routing requirements. Configure VPN between existing clients datacenters and Cloud environment. Determine interconnectivity methods and develop high level design including resource groups VNETS subnets virtual machines and traffic flows.
• Identity and Access Management
• The Consultant shall provide Identity and Access Management. Ensure Active Directory is configured replicated and integrated properly. Review Cloud configuration for any advanced services such as SSO and MFA. Perform configuration changes to support overall IAM implementation strategy.
• Storage Services
• The Consultant shall provide short and longterm Cloud Based Storage Services in support of applications Continuity of Operations Disaster Recovery and customer data storage.
• Secure File Transfer Services
• The Consultant shall provide support for an enterprisewide capability to securely transfer files of any size and type to either internal or external Government and Contractor DON network users.
• Virtual Machine Services
• The Consultant shall provide Cloud Based Virtual Machine Services in support of application Transition Support and New Application Implementation Requirements to include Virtual Machine Creation Migration and Consolidation.
• Database Hosting Services
• The Consultant shall provide Cloudbased Database Hosting Services which includes standalone databases shared data sources or tiered database solutions.
• Development and Test Environment Hosting Services
• The Consultant shall configure a flexible scalable ondemand environment to support development testing staging and/or quality assurance before releasing new applications and changes into the CLIENT production environment.
• Disaster Recovery and Backup Strategy
• The Consultant shall review existing Disaster Recovery and backup landscape and processes to advise on best practices and capabilities for hybrid cloud landscape. With CLIENT approval implement the best method and approach for ensuring protection of CLIENT resources deployed in the Cloud.
• Security
• The Consultant shall review and implement native security services their use and configuration best practices. Determine compliance requirements and determine security services required.
• Monitoring
• The Consultant shall provide automated monitoring of performance resource utilization and other events such as failure of service degraded service availability of the network storage database systems operating Systems and applications.

Deliverables

• The Consultant will provide deliverables in all task areas as listed in Table 1 List of Task Related Deliverables. When the project progresses possibly additional work products may be included as mutually agreed upon.
