The headquarters of the AXA Group (GIE AXA) brings together our corporate activities. It provides guidance and support to subsidiaries around the world, to ensure the coordination and monitoring of the Group's global strategy, the application of its standards, the consistency of commercial approaches and the sharing of best practices. Within the Group, you will join the Group Risk Management department.

Group Risk Management (GRM) is a central and strategic function at AXA Headquarters. One of its main components is GRM P&C, which ensures that P&C risks are appropriately measured, modelled, and monitored. GRM P&C’s main areas of expertise are Reserving, Underwriting, Cat Modelling, and Economic Capital. Thanks to AXA’s geographical footprint, the team works in a very international and highly diverse context.

Cyber insurance is a fastly-growing and evolving Business, on which AXA has the ambition to keep growing in the next years. In order to support the growth and ensure it is done with proper consideration of all the specificities of Cyber insurance compared to more traditional P&C products, AXA has set in place a Cyber Center of Expertise. One of the pillars of this Center of Expertise is the strengthening of Cyber modelling activities. In this context, the P&C Actuary will have a key role to play on the modelling and monitoring of Cyber insurance for the whole AXA Group (International exposure).

The position holder will report to the Head of Actuarial & Man-made.

Main activities

The P&C Actuary will work into a team of 15 people dedicated to Actuarial activities (Cyber modelling, Liability modelling, and Reserving). Their daily activities will imply to work with a large panel of experts all across the Group and in particular at AXA XL: Cyber underwriters, Claims handlers, Cybersecurity experts, Data analysts, Pricing actuaries, etc.

Starting in 2017, AXA has been developing a Cyber Accumulation model, aimed at assessing what could be the most extreme losses at a bicentenary horizon. This model has first been integrated into a Risk Appetite framework (maximum exposure that AXA Board is willing to accept on a given risk), and then has been integrated into the STEC Capital model and validated by ACPR in 2020.

Compared to more traditional P&C risks, Cyber comes with to main difficulties that the P&C Actuary will need to understand and work around:

This position is a great opportunity to gain a solid understanding of Cyber business within a leading international Group.

On an ad-hoc basis, the P&C Actuary will also be asked to contribute on some other topics of the team. In particular, the Actuarial team is also responsible for the monitoring of the Group P&C Reserves to ensure that there are adequate to face risks & uncertainties. The P&C Actuary may contribute to this mandate through qualitative or quantitative analyses on the Group P&C Reserves (for instance in relation with specific concerns like Covid, inflation, introduction of IFRS17, etc.), under the leadership of a more senior member of the team.
