Process & Commissioning Engineer
Location
Gif sur Yvette, Essonne | France
Job description
Spark is a start-up developing clean hydrogen production units, with zero-CO2 emission and a fraction of the electrical power of electrolyzers. We developed a unique process called nanopulsed plasmalysis: non-thermal plasmas (nanosecond-controlled lightning!) extract hydrogen from (bio)methane, with solid carbon as a co-product. In 2023 we are deploying CH-5: a pre-industrial demonstrator stacking 5 plasmalysis modules. We are looking for highly skilled engineers to join the team as we scale up.
Tasks
Your mission contains commissioning and test fields, followed by the design of the next unit :
- Within a few months, become responsible for the deployment of the CH-5 demonstrator: you will work at the interface between (1) Spark’s R&D team (2) our integrators and suppliers and (3) the operating teams on our client site
- Perform the CH-5 commissioning and initial test campaign, resolve field test issues, write technical reports, and bring suggestions on how to improve the process.
- 2024+: work with our industrial director and integrators to design the commercial pilot. Define and qualify standard equipments, with a focus on downstream purification and plant optimization.
- Keep the standard design updated (P&ID, HMB calculations, etc…) of CH-5 unit and the latter unit.
You will report to our Industrial Director, and be in daily interaction with Spark’s R&D team and our network of suppliers and integrators.
Requirements
You are:
- An experienced commissioning-engineer, with at least one prior field experience. You must have experience with gas & electrical hazards.
- A trained process engineer, with expertise in engineering processes, safety studies (HAZOP), as well as process simulation software (ASPEN , etc.), and (bonus) automation (PC/PLC).
- Excellent at time-management, reliable, with a focus on getting things done, and uncompromising on safety.
- Keen to learn, help and share your expertise in a multi-expertise team, with great communication skills : we won’t get there alone !
- Eager to take on one of the biggest challenges of our time: decarbonize our industry.
- Fluency in French is required
