About the role
The Category Manager is responsible for the design and execution of the category strategy.
The goal of the Category manager is to increase the sales and profitability of the category by driving sustainable growth that fits within the Catawikis value proposition while having P&L responsibility.
He or She Ensures a constant flow of quality supply through the management of high potential leads and sellers.
The Category Manager manages an international team of Experts and designs budget and headcount decisions for the category. He or She facilitates and ensures close collaboration between the category and supporting teams.
What youll do
- Overseeing a significant category (based on size complexity growth opportunity and or team set up) through a high level of senior leadership
- Creating and developing a strategic long term plan for the development of the category in accordance with the Supercluster strategy as set by the Vice President
- Analysing data and insights related to demand supply quality productivity and customer experience in order to improve sustainable growth
- Setting the quarterly auction planning by proactively managing supply & demand cycles
- Accountability for the category P&L
- Quality management and curation consistency and efficiency amongst the Experts base
- Securing the development of an international team of Experts
- Ensuring the category proposition to its buyers and sellers is in line with Catawikis overall value proposition
- Ensuring customer centricity within the Customer Journey
- Developing strong working relationships with key sellers and buyers
- Aligning the strategy across departments and enhancing collaboration amongst the different teams
- Analysing and benchmarking key competitors having an understanding of the drivers and trends in the market
What youll bring to the role
- 510 years experience in a Jewellery & Precious Stones or Luxury related field
- 510 years experience leading a category setting up the strategy and being able to translate it into actionable KPIs and plans
- Experience with Supply & Demand planning cycles within a digital environment
- Commercial management and negotiation strategies aimed at optimising inventories and maximising the category growth
- Knowledge of trade prices in order to comfortably assess discuss or object (if needed) the quality of lots going into auction and periodically review internal Quality Guidelines
- Managing a large team of people ensuring smooth running of weekly operations and company campaigns experience in managing teams remotely is a plus
- Working in a targetdriven environment motivating teams while ensuring quality standards are met at all times
- Gemmology Degree from a wellrecognised International Institute (eg. GIA HRD IGI) is preferred but not required.
- Experience with CX procedures
- Excellent communication and presentation skills

This role can be based in The Netherlands Germany Italy Belgium Spain France Portugal or the UK with a work from home arrangement.

Our offices and way of working
We have sensational offices in Amsterdam Groningen Paris and our newest office in Lisbon. Most of our employees are within commutable distance of one of our office locations and enjoy a hybrid work model. This means we expect you to be in the office 2 out of 5 days roughly 40% of your working time to collaborate and connect with each other. The exception is of course if the job description specifically states that the role is 100% remote as some experts and sales positions are.
