The Sr. Contracts Advisor is responsible for the commercial structuring of major agreements, contract delivery strategy, and associated negotiations with involved parties for large capital projects. The Sr. Contracts Advisor ensures that projects are properly contracted in compliance with procurement policies and ethics charter. The Sr. Contracts Advisor leads the process of developing contract documentation incorporating project requirements, identifying project risks, and incorporating risk mitigation strategies, tendering, negotiating and formalizing all contracts. The Sr. Contracts Advisor is the single point of contact to develop the project contract strategy, planning, and implementation to meet the project goals engaging with the project stakeholders.

This position sits in Houston, TX and will report to the Director of Capital Projects.

What you'll do :
- Manages the development of the project contract with multiple stakeholders, evaluating project agreements from a commercial standpoint and ensuring risks are identified and mitigation measures are in place
- Develops contracting strategy to adequately flow down provisions to responsible parties and limit company's exposure to an acceptable level
- Negotiates terms and conditions with contractors for medium and large projects related to energy systems with existing partnerships and new opportunities
- Assists with nurturing strategic alliances with EPC contractors and General Contractors for business development activities
- Develops a list of potential bidders, solicits contractor/supplier Letters of Interest based on the contracting plan
- Develops the Request for Proposal (RFP) packages relying on documentation from the project team members to provide a complete package meeting the project schedule and incorporating stakeholder requirements
- Drives the contract bidding process for contracts as bidder single point of contact using coordination meetings, site visits and issuing RFP addenda as required.
- Manages the negotiations with the selected bidder using a documented process, using good judgment to identify contract issues and resolve scope and Terms and Conditions differences
- Prepares final contract, award letter and Notice to Proceed as appropriate
- Leads continuous improvements efforts to reduce the total installed capital investment, reduction of Owner risk profile, reduction of schedule from commencement to commercial operations, and avoidance of contract change orders and/or claims
- Reviews supplier/contract project invoicing for contract compliance
- Reviews Change Order Requests and drives the negotiations with the supplier/contractor using negotiations skills while utilizing the project team and contract terms
- Negotiates schedule and cost impacts to preserve the contracting plan
- Prepares final Change Orders for signature using the agreements, the results of the negotiations with the contractor and the project team
- Prepares project close-out documentation using Provisional Acceptance and Final Acceptance contract documentation

What you bring :
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in contract management for medium and large industrial projects or a related field
- A strong background in contract development and/or contract administration, including an understanding of procurement procedures
- A strong understanding of project execution and project related tax, finance, insurance and legal issues
- Background in energy systems design, development, and construction with public, industrial, or commercial customers will BE considered a very strong asset
- Experience in P3 Concession Agreement or DBFOM model preferred

- Salary Range : $124, 600 - $218, 505 USD/CAD, annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
- In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
