Principal Electrical Engineer
Location: Dardilly, France
THE ROLE:
We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated and passionate in understanding customer problem statements, and proactively proposing and delivering high-quality solutions on time. This role is suitable for individuals who are keen to learn different applications, products, and their design. This role brings an opportunity for the selected candidate to interact with technical colleagues of multiple domains, and customers, offer managers and sales colleagues, understand different applications, and collaborate with different functions involved in delivering a solution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work alongside our demand creation team to translate and negotiate customer requirements for large electrification projects and develop system designs from the requirements.
- Engaging with customers at the feasibility and bid stage to build technical credibility and generate demand.
- Addressing deeper technical power systems questions with end users, “Engineering Procurement and Construction” teams, and supplier partners as projects progress towards an award
- Documenting the project and product requirements and flowing to supply chain partners.
- Participating in review/HAZOP studies with customers to finalize power system designs:
- This may include work such as HAZOP analysis, harmonics, arc-flash studies, addressing surge/transient behaviors, etc.
- Visiting installation sites to support integration and commissioning.
- Standardizing solutions to enable faster quoting, designing, and manufacturing of power solutions for electrification.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
Required skills:
- Bachelor/master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- >8 years experience working with medium-voltage
- Significant knowledge and experience in the following technical areas:
- Power systems, including megawatt-scale 3-phase power distribution, components, infrastructure, relays and protection, safety systems, harmonics, and relevant agency requirements, e.g., UL, IEC, etc.
- Thyristor power controls
- Excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively on both technical and business matters.
- Willingness to travel up to a few days every month, including occasional international travel for sales visits, supplier and customer site visits, intra-company site visits, etc.
Skills:
- Teamwork; attitude, critical thinking, technical analysis, problem-solving, presentation of proposals and results
- Self-motivation to learn.
Desirable:
- Convective thermal systems and control, interfacing with our heater experts.
- Experience in Petrochem, and/or the energy industry.
- Control theory interfacing with our Advanced Control Algorithm team, PLC software vendor, etc.
- Controls electronics, including PLCs, temperature and safety controllers, IT/OT communication devices, and protocols.
