Functional Product Safety Engineer (W/M)
John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) and John Deere Electric Powertrain (JDEP) are the business segments of John Deere whose purpose is to design, deliver, and support advanced off-highway powertrain components and systems. As a Senior Engineer, Functional Safety for JDPS/JDEP located in Orleans you will:
Main missions :
• Lead functional safety activities for electronic powertrain systems and components (battery management systems, battery modules, engine controllers) to be integrated into various vehicle or machinery product lines
• Interpret and apply functional safety standards and principles to ensure compliance and consistency across JDPS/JDEP, including best practices and process guidelines
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop solutions to meet functional safety goals
• Become familiar with and support Product Safety & Compliance deliverables of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process for JDPS/JDEP products and systems
Required skills and experiences :
• 4 or more years of professional engineering experience
• Experience performing electronic hardware, software, or system design, testing and/or analysis work
• Demonstrated effective communication (written and verbal) skills, documentation skills, and attention to detail
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work and collaborate in a virtual environment
• Experience with systems engineering practices and processes
What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences) :
• Knowledge of and work experience with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262, ISO 25119, or ISO 19014
• Experience with third-party functional safety certification (TUV, kVA by UL, etc.)
• Product design or test experience in the agriculture, construction, forestry, or off-road machinery industry
• Experience applying safety measures in hardware and/or software
• Experience taking functional safety projects from concept to production
• Experience working with cross-functional, global teams
• Experience reading and interpreting standards and regulations
Education :
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical/scientific discipline OR 5 or more years of relevant engineering experience
