Job description
WHO WE ARE
We design today and we will build and operate tomorrow a fleet of airships, the LCA60T, intended for cargo transport. Capable of loading and unloading up to 60 tons of cargo (wood, wind turbine blades, containers, mobile hospitals, etc.) in hovering flight, with a reduced environmental footprint, this transport system is unprecedented.
At FLYING WHALES, we have a bold vision that brings together more than 130 pioneers and about 40 partner companies. These pioneers of the 21st century, men and women, bring their desire, their passion and their know-how every day to give birth to a new transportation solution, but also to an idea. The idea that societies must be able to continue to create links in order to develop.
This is the mission that FLYING WHALES has set itself: to open up isolated regions in the world while helping to reduce CO2 emissions in the transport sector thanks to a low-carbon aircraft.
Would you like to help us write one of the pages of aeronautics history? Here is the pioneer we are looking for:
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for a Maintainability Engineer within the Physical Architecture Department.
Perform the maintainability analysis of the Equilibrium (Ballast, Payload, Gas Lifting) systems. Those systems contain various component types, materials and mechanical fittings which are to be studied in the maintainability analysis. The Ballast system charges/stores/discharges water and is composed of pipes, pumps, valves, tanks and nozzles. The Payload system loads/stores/unloads various payloads and is composed of electric motors, gearboxes, pulley system, actuators. The gas lifting system stores the helium lifting gas and is composed of a fabric cell material and valves. All systems have computers and/or sensors embedded for data monitoring. The detailed tasks are:
Conduct technical system analysis to capture the functional and physical system design
Identify scheduled maintenance tasks and their interval as well as unscheduled maintenance events based on the system design data (3D design, specifications, drawings), supplier data, by applying aviation standards such as MSG-3 & S4000P and by comparison to other aircraft models
Identify the required support (standard and special tools, tool kits, equipment, consumables, spare parts, personnel…) to perform the maintenance task
Perform the Maintenance Task Analysis within CATIA for specific maintenance tasks considering the operational environment, Human Factors and Ergonomics
Define supportability requirements for the systems / components / items
Specify and/or make a preliminary design in CATIA of special tools required to perform the identified maintenance tasks
Contribute to the development and certification of the LCA60T Maintenance Programme using MSG-3 and S4000P
Contribute to the development of methods / processes / best practices applied throughout the Maintainability Engineering Team activities
YOUR EDUCATION & EXPERIENCES:
· Bac+5 Aeronautical Engineer (or equivalent)
· Minimum 5 years of experience as Maintainability Engineer; Integrated Logistic Support Engineer; RAMS Engineer or similar with a focus on aircraft development projects within the design phase
· Minimum 2 years of experience in the development and certification activities related to an aircraft Maintenance Programme. Experience with Working Groups and relation with aviation authorities required
YOUR SKILLS :
Very good knowledge on Maintenance Task Analysis and on Human Factor analysis and Human engineering standards
Very good knowledge on the development and certification of the Maintenance Programme and standard such as MSG-3 and S4000P
Good knowledge of CATIA V6 (3DEXPERIENCE environment) or similar CAD software
Basic knowledge in Reliability, Availability, Testability and Level of Repair Analysis
Knowledge of other ASD specifications (S3000L, S1000D) as a plus
YOUR QUALITIES:
Logical mindset and strong analytical skills
Good problem solving and solution building skills
Excellent verbal and very good written communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and to participate in technical reviews, program reviews and to be in contact with suppliers
You will become a pioneer if:
You develop and implement innovative maintainability solutions that go beyond industry average; enhancing the LCA60T supportability over its complete life cycle
WHAT WE OFFER:
· Contribution to your success from day 1 with our WHALECOME ONBOARDING and your Buddy.
