Quantoom Biosciences has two facilities; the headquarters are based in Nivelles (Belgium), and the France Research Center focusing on offering an end-to-end DNA production platform based in Evry (France).
In addition to its current focus area of mRNA-based vaccination, Quantoom is continuously exploring new applications for its current and future development projects, including cell-free protein synthesis, DNA vaccines, RNA-based therapeutics, gene delivery technologies, and many more.
Due to an increase in work, we currently have open a temporary position (6 month) within our French affiliate located in Evry. We are looking after a Laboratory Technician who will help the current team in the production and purification of proteins. As Laboratory technician, you will actively be involved in the USP process (use of bioreactors) and also in the DSP Process with Akta system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In the lab, you will be overallresponsible for the execution of operational work andyou will carry out all activities associated with protein production and purification such as:
- Perform laboratory work within the areas of cloning, transformation and culturing of bacterial cells (E. Coli), recombinant expression, protein purification and characterization of relevant proteins.
- Use of Akta FPLC system and Fermenter.
- Techniques used will include ligation independent and other cloning methods, bacterial (E. Coli) and expression of recombinant proteins in both Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic systems.
- Evaluate and report experimental results and ensuring that research data and protocols are entered into Lab Notebook.
- Maintain stocks, reagents, media and laboratory equipment.
- Share responsibility within the team in terms of defining objectives and meet pre-set deadlines.
- Participate in the general operation and maintenance of the laboratory facilities.
- Carry out any other relevant duties as may reasonably be associated with the position, and which may be required from time to time.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry or Biomedical Sciences
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cell culture processes, aseptic practices and analytical methods
- Knowledge of bioreactor setup and operation is an asset
- Understanding of recombinant protein expression principles is an asset
- Strong sense of observation and capability of troubleshooting
- Resistance to stress and flexibility (adaptability to a changing and multi-tasked environment)
- Enthusiasm and agility to work on a variety of projects and to learn more every day
- Strong organizational skills, proactivity, scientific curiosity, desire to be impactful
- Capability to leverage know-how with classical cell culture techniques to participate in the development of the new generation solutions
- Capability to work in a cross-functional and multi-cultural team
- Understanding of English (written and spoken)
