The Senior Tax Manager - EMEA reports to the Director of Tax Operations and will work closely with the Director of Global Tax Planning and International Tax. This role is responsible for the EMEA foreign income tax provision reporting packages, coordination of the income tax compliance for the EMEA region, income tax controversy arising in our EMEA region, and ensure compliance with Align’s global transfer pricing policies. The Senior Tax Manager EMEA will coordinate with the local accounting teams in EMEA and collaborate directly with the income tax provision and financial reporting team in the US to prepare income tax calculations (e.g. provision to return reconciliation, quarterly income tax provision calculations, transfer pricing computations, etc.). The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently with the local accounting teams, coordinate with local tax advisors, and collaborate with the global corporate tax team located in San Jose, California of a US-based multi-national corporation.

In this role, you will…

• Oversee the EMEA income tax compliance requirements, income tax provision calculations, and internal controls
• Coordinate with our US corporate tax team to ensure timely and accurate income tax provision reporting packages prepared in accordance with local and US GAAP (ASC 740) and other regulations as applicable on a quarterly and annual basis
• Be responsible for managing the relationship with third party providers and stakeholders in EMEA
• Lead the coordination and facilitate EMEA local tax filings and tax payments across multiple jurisdictions internally and with external providers
• Monitor and reconcile US GAAP to Statutory adjustments for deferred tax effects for income tax purposes and transfer pricing effects on intercompany arrangements
• Lead and manage EMEA tax audits and disputes, collaborating with internal teams, external advisors, and tax authorities to resolve issues efficiently and in the best interest of Align
• Responsible for DAC6 compliance
• Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments and develop future forward-looking vision to identify trends in the short and long term which can impact the business
• Optimize processes and procedures to ensure compliance with Align’s global transfer pricing policies and local documentation requirements
• Manage EMEA transfer pricing operations, oversee EMEA transfer pricing calculations, and provide tax advice on intercompany arrangements

In this role, you’ll need …

• At least 8+ years relevant experience with a US based multinational or combination of US MNC and Big 4 accounting firm.
• Proven experience with preparing and reviewing income tax provision calculations/reporting for US public listed company.
• Experienced, proven knowledge of the challenges of operating in a global organization dealing with managing multiple entities in several countries across EMEA and international tax and transfer pricing practices.
• Bachelor’s or Master's degree and a Chartered Tax Advisor (or equivalent) and /or qualified accountant (Chartered Accountant or equivalent)
• Strong attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills & solution provider with the ability to influence and drive change in way of working, processes and onboarding of new systems
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills with focus on succinct communication to senior management
• Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple internal and external relationships
• Experienced in Excel, modeling and ERP systems (SAP, Workday, etc.)
