Job description

Summary

The Sous Chef will be responsible for supporting the Executive Chef in overseeing and coordinating all kitchen activities at Hotel Sofia, Barcelona Hyatt. This role will play a crucial part in menu preparation, quality control, staff management, and ensuring operational efficiency in the kitchen. The Sous Chef is expected to demonstrate exceptional culinary skills, effective leadership, and a constant commitment to the hotel's standards of culinary excellence.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Executive Chef in planning and developing innovative and high-quality menus.

Supervise and lead the kitchen team, providing guidance and ongoing training.

Ensure compliance with hygiene standards, food safety, and sanitation regulations.

Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Participate in food cost management and maintain optimal inventory levels.

Collaborate in the selection and development of kitchen staff.

Stay informed about culinary trends and creatively apply them to the hotel's menus.

Ensure dish presentation and food quality meet Hyatt standards.

Qualifications

Demonstrated previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role.

Certification in culinary arts or a culinary diploma is highly desirable.

In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques and personnel management skills.

Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic and demanding environment.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.

Flexibility to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends.
