About this opportunity
As the Health & Safety Specialist you will play a key role in ensuring the health and safety of Align Technologies employees, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations, and collaborating in the achievement of the organization’s strategic objectives. You will be responsible for planning and managing preventive activities, the preparation and management of H&S documentation and well as providing training and advice on prevention, health and safety.
In this role, you will…
- Serve as the subject matter expert in Iberia and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain a safe working environment.
- Understand and assess the status and legal requirements in Health &Safety, ensuring compliance with current local regulations.
- Develop, update, and manage Health &Safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and documentation, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Collaborate in achieving strategic objectives alongside the Global Environmental Health & Safety Team on the implementation of the global environmental, health & safety management system and ensuring compliance with local requirements and corporate standards.
- Analyze risk assessments and propose corrective measures, ensuring the follow-up of their effectiveness. Set and manage performance indicators as required by the business and/or according to global standards.
- Plan preventive activities in accordance with identified risks within the organization.
- Collaborate closely with the technician from the External Prevention Service in the implementation of preventive measures.
- Plan and follow up of all actions carried out by the External Prevention Service. Coordination of the medical checks together with the External Prevention Service.
- Provide internal Health &Safety training to employees and offer advice on prevention to employees.
- Advise on protective measures and identified deficiencies, proposing effective solutions.
- Coordinate business activities with contractors and subcontractor, managing Health &Safety required documentation in accordance with mandatory requirements.
- Evaluate and assess periodically the performance of contractors’ obligations regarding Health & Safety and the External Prevention Services as per agreed contract..
- Perform administrative tasks and manage documentation associated with the Health &Safety department.
- Conduct safety inspections and investigations of workplace accidents, contributing to the continuous improvement of occupational safety.
- Manage all internal and external audits to guarantee the fulfillment of all local regulations and Company policies and the correct implementation of the security measures.
- Create and promote a Health &Safety culture, promoting the importance of the safety in the workplace as an important pilar in the organization.
- Work closely with other teams such as Human Resources, Facilities, Operations, Commercial, R&D and Quality Management Team in order to guarantee the effective implementation of the Health &Safety practices in all areas of the organization in most cost effective and efficient way.
In this role, you’ll need …
- Health and Safety education required by Spanish Legal Regulations (Técnico Superior en Riesgos Laborales) with 3 preventive specialities Seguridad, Higene industrial y ergonomia.
- Ideally 3-5 years’ of experience in Health and Safety role.
- Environmental Education (desired but not required).
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Excellent communication and training skills for delivery of key H&S training programs.
- Project Management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and effectively manage projects.
- Knowledge of ISO 45000/45001.
- Good IT - Microsoft Office.
- Entrepreneurial and prompt to improvement changes.
