Job description

As SpliceBio is growing, we’re looking for exceptional professionals to be part of our team, supporting the development of gene therapies for diseases for which currently no treatment exists. To continue to keep our house in order and to provide us with the instruments and analyses to make informed business decisions, we’re looking to hire a Finance Accountant. In this capacity, you will be in charge of maintaining the company’s financial administration and analyzing and providing information to make financial decisions.

Reporting to our Finance Manager, this is what you’ll be working on:

• Control full accounting cycle, including financial data and general ledger into the accounting system with a high degree of accuracy.
• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions.
• File and organize finance information (Invoices, orders, contracts, requests)
• Establish full reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, prepare and coordinate monthly account analysis with the different departments.
• Provide information to external partners (Legal, HR, Tax, Institutions).
• Support to prepare monthly and quarterly accounting closings and management reports.
• Organize and set upSupervise and manage internal procurement process.
• Organize and set-up bank payments.
• Preparation and submission of financial reports within given deadlines.
• Delivering input for management reports regarding current financial status, risks and opportunities.
• Statutory and tax financial reporting and compliance activities; SII/VAT, R&D Tax Credits, Grants.
• Liaise with and support external and internal audit matters.
• Pro-actively providing input to Finance Manager and/or VP of Finance for strategic decision making.
• Administrative support to Finance Manager in activities related to general company operations.
• Any new task that may arise, as we are a dynamic and continuously growing company.

Requirements

For a successful fulfilment of this position, we are interested in candidates meeting the following requirements:

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Finance, accounting, administration, economics or similar.
• Strong Accounting knowledge.
• Strong Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Power Point, Word)
• A minimum of 4 years relevant work experience.
• Industry experience. Specialized experience in Biotech/startup sector is a plus.
• Experience delivering financial reports with accurate statistiscs and financial diagnoses.
• Great written and oral communication skills to present with ease complex financial information.
• Strong analytical and project management skills.
• Experience in ERP management and Procurement Software (Business Central, Netsuite, Sap or similar) is a plus.
• Experience liasing with other departments such as HR, Operations is a plus.
• Experienced with IFRS and Spanish GAAP. US GAAP experience is a plus.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

SpliceBio

SpliceBio is focused since 2020 to develop treatments for diseases for which until now no treatment exists. SpliceBio’s platform technology, based on over 20 years of research in the Muir Lab at Princeton University, allows for efficient delivery of large genes with adeno-associated vectors (AAV). Genes are split into fragments to be then put back together to the full-length protein to be delivered.

In early 2022, the company completed the largest ever series A financing in the Spanish biotech sector; an oversubscribed €50 million finance round co-led by UCB Ventures and existing shareholder Ysios Capital and the participation of new investors New Enterprise Associates, Gilde Healthcare, Novartis Venture Fund and existing backer Asabys Partners which seeded the company in 2020 with Ysios. This financing round validates SpliceBio's approach of exploiting protein splicing to develop next generation gene therapies. The company is addressing one of the key limitations of AAV, being their limited cargo capacity.
