What you will do

 

As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for managing a team of Tech Leads and promoting standards and best practices within the organization. Your main responsibilities will include:

 

• Leading and mentoring a team of Tech Leads, providing guidance and support in their technical and leadership roles.
• Collaborating with product teams led by Tech Leads to understand their needs and requirements, and promoting the adoption of standards and best practices across the organization.
• Identifying areas for improvement in software development processes and driving initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability.
• Participating in architectural discussions and providing technical expertise to ensure the development of robust and scalable solutions.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical strategies and ensure successful delivery of projects.
• Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and evaluating their potential impact on the organization.
• Understanding and managing technical debt with a pragmatic perspective, including governance at the organization level and assisting Tech Leads in dealing with it.
• Maintaining the tech radar for patterns and practices.

• Extensive experience in software engineering, with a strong background in designing and developing complex systems.
• Proven experience in leading and managing teams, with a focus on mentoring and developing technical talent.
• Deep understanding of software development methodologies, best practices, and architectural principles.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
• A passion for technology and a drive to stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements.
• Skills in understanding and managing technical debt with a pragmatic perspective, including governance at the organization level and assisting Tech Leads in dealing with it.

 

How you will work

 

In this role, you will work closely with Tech Leads, product teams, and cross-functional stakeholders. You will collaborate on defining technical strategies, promoting standards and best practices, and driving the successful delivery of projects. You will also provide guidance and support to your team of Tech Leads, fostering their growth and development.

 

With whom

 

As a Principal Engineer, you will work with a diverse group of individuals, including:

 

• Tech Leads: Collaborating with Tech Leads to understand their needs and requirements, and promoting standards and best practices within their teams.
• Product Teams: Working closely with product teams led by Tech Leads to align technical strategies and ensure successful project delivery.
• Cross-functional Teams: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as product management, design, and QA, to ensure alignment and successful execution of projects.
• Stakeholders: Engaging with stakeholders to understand their expectations and requirements, and providing technical expertise and guidance.

Requisitos

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

Recognised Programming and/or Software Engineering qualification desirable.
