About the Role:
We are Anchor Point Studios and we’re looking for a Lead Backend Programmer to help us build the future of mind-blowing video game entertainment for a new, innovative 3D action title.
As our Lead Backend Programmer, you will be responsible for the design and development of our robust backend systems while collaborating with our external partners. Additionally:
- Work closely with game designers to ensure backend systems support and enhance game features and player experiences include authentication, player data management, and battle pass systems.
- Work with our technology partners to integrate advanced backend technologies and tools, fostering innovation and expanding the capabilities of our games.
- Lead the design and development of robust backend systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and security to support game functionalities and user data management.
- Develop and maintain Unreal Engine C++ client code for interacting with backend services, facilitating seamless gameplay experiences and data exchange.
- Oversee the deployment and management of backend services on cloud platforms, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect user data and comply with relevant laws and regulations, conducting regular security audits and updates.
- Team Leadership and Mentorship: Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to backend development teams, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and quality delivery.
- Integration with BaaS Platforms: Evaluate, select, and integrate appropriate Backend as a Service platforms to expedite development while meeting project requirements and timelines.
About You:
- Demonstrable experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining backend systems from scratch, with a strong understanding of backend architecture best practices.
- Familiarity with leading BaaS software (e.g., PlayFab, Gamesparks, Accelbyte, etc.), including integration, customization, and optimization to meet project needs.
- Experience in developing client-side Unreal Engine C++ code for consuming backend services, ensuring seamless integration and communication between the game and backend systems.
- Advanced proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., C#, Python, Javascript, etc.) and familiarity with database management systems (SQL and NoSQL).
- Knowledge of networking protocols, security best practices for backend development, and experience in implementing secure, scalable, and high-performance services.
- Experience in designing, developing, and managing RESTful APIs and understanding of web services architecture.
- Experience with cloud computing services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) for hosting and managing backend infrastructure, including knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
