Multi-billion dollar Automotive supplier focused on autonomous driving, connectivity and electrification is looking for an Industrial Engineer in the Toledo, Ohio area:
NOTE: This role is an on-site role. The Industrial Engineer provides necessary support for the successful launch of new battery assembly programs, following the Company's standards and objectives. They plan, direct, and coordinate internal and external processes in the plant.
Essential Duties: - Develops, evaluates, and improves internal and external material flow methods.
- Analyzes and plans work force and utilization, floor space, and material flow.
- Designs layout of equipment and operator workspace.
- Confers with part suppliers and/or vendors to engineer and develop material handling equipment, storage solutions, and packaging and evaluates/tests the product to assure specifications and meet quality standards.
- Time study analysis through simulation of material flow throughout the plant.
- Calculation of staffing requirements.
- Calculation of fleets and management of returnable packaging.
- Confers with management and other staff regarding materials processes to support and facilitate overall plant efficiency.
- Identify process wastes in the overall supply chain to identify savings opportunities on diverse areas, such as transportation, inventory, people, internal flow, etc. and provide detailed business case.
Education / Skill / Experience Requirements: - 4-year bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or other Engineering degree is a must.
- 1-3 years of experience in continuous improvement activities and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Technical expertise and skill in designing and optimizing material flow processes.
- 1-3 years of experience in shop floor capacity planning based on time study analysis techniques.
- 1-3 years of experience in floor space analysis. AutoCAD experience is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in problem solving and analysis that require the use of different Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and/or root cause methodologies and tools, such as 8D’s, Ishikawa/Fishbone, etc.
- Knowledge of principles and experience in warehouse management based on methodologies such as FIFO and Kanban systems.
- Minimum of 1-3 years working in a JIT assembly environment (preferred).
- Automotive parts assembly experience preferred with 1-3 years of experience in the assembly of modular component systems (preferred).
- New product launch experience preferred.
- Experience on how to manage CapEx (preferred)
- 1-3 years of experience working with suppliers/fabricators on the engineering and design of material handling equipment and solutions.
- 1-3 year of experience engineering racking and/or dunnage (returnable packaging) based on part specifications and OEM standards.
- Knowledge of proper ergonomics and safety standards in the automotive industry.
- Must have working knowledge of manufacturing processes and knowledge of Quality Assurance Techniques with emphasis on Manufacturing Processes Problem Solving and Automotive Quality Requirements.
- Excellent oral and written communication for effective reporting to management, customer, and suppliers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
- MS Office is a must; AutoCAD, Minitab, SAP, and MS Project are preferred. Tech savvy preferred.
- Bilingual preferable (English / Spanish or Other)
