Hello there! We are looking for a fully-remote WordPress theme developer with a minimum of 4 years of experience, great front-end development skills and ideally prior agency experience. Is that you?

To save your time and ours we kindly ask that you do not apply if the majority of your experience with WordPress is with a page builder plugin (Elementor, Divi, etc).

Your day-to-day responsibilities:

• You will be required to translate high-end designs into clean and reusable code (HTML, SCSS and JS) and connect this into WordPress and ACF.
• You will build, deploy and maintain a range of bespoke WordPress websites using the Roots.io stack (Sage, Bedrock, and Trellis) and our internal component frameworks.
• Communication internally and externally. Daily stand-ups, team meetings, remote design teams and client communication.

Requirements

• For a minimum of 4 years, you have developed custom WordPress themes from scratch or using a minimal theme/plugin boilerplate (maybe some plugins too).
• You are self-responsible, proactive, decisive and a team player. A detail oriented person.
• Fluent in both verbal and written English.
• Your up to date with current design and development best practices and you constantly expand your skill set.
• You have an eye for design and can blend new website updates into an existing branded website without the need of a design every time.

Your skill set must contain:

• Responsive front-end development. HTML5 + SASS and JavaScript (ideally ES6).
• Familiar with NPM, webpack, git, SSH, WP CLI and Composer.
• You're obsessed with web performance and your markup follows SEO best practices.
• Solid understanding of WordPress (across multiple projects).
• Deep and demonstrable understanding of PHP as well as the WordPress Theme and Plugin APIs.
• You're familiar with browser testing and can debug an issue down the problematic line/function.
• You write clean, well-documented, reusable, and easy-to-maintain code.
• You're comfortable using either Figma or an app of the Adobe Suite (Photoshop / Illustrator / XD) to translate designs into code.

Bonus points if you’re familiar with:

• Roots stack (Sage, Bedrock, and Trellis) - this makes WordPress ‘developer friendly’.
• Managing and optimising a server/database for WordPress hosting.
• Web animation libraries such as GreenSock (GSAP).

Qualified candidates will be asked to do 3-step interview process.

1. A 30 minute meet & greet call
2. A 45 minute technical assessment / questionnaire.
3. A video interview with 3 parts:
1. An introduction chat (45 minutes)
2. A small development task (60 minutes)
3. Q&A (15 minutes)
