PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The Study Manager/Project Lead will have a deep knowledge and proven experience in the design and execution of Wind generation projects and support the delivery of consultancy assignments for large-scale Wind projects worldwide. Our projects range from site identification and resource assessment, to pre-development and bankable feasibility studies, to Owner´s Engineer and Project Management Consultancy for engineering, construction and O&M phases.

Using your deep technical knowledge of Wind power generation technology, you will contribute in close cooperation with other disciplines, to the development of feasibility and conceptual studies, preliminary design & cost estimate studies, wind resource assessments and yield analysis, technical Due Diligences and the provision of technical advisory services in accordance with the project requirements and any applicable statutory and regulatory specification.

Adequate communication, coordination, planning and supervision of all project-related activities as well as continuous communication and reporting to the Client in compliance with Worley’s standards and procedures are the main responsibilities of this position.

Leads the project, obtains the highest value of the project team and manages the expectations of the Client, with minimal supervision and general direction of the upper management.

The position will be based in Madrid, with frequent travels to other locations.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Management of internal and external interfaces. Establish the grounds for a positive working atmosphere within the project team as well as an honest and constructive working relationship with the Client and with other project stakeholders.
• Ensure adequate communication, planning, coordination and management of all project-related activities.
• Main interface with the Client, including the preparation of formal communications, records and technical/progress reports.
• Ensure effective and well-recorded communications with the Client and with other project stakeholders, from a contract/legal, technical and commercial side, on a day-to-day basis.
• Manage the execution of the following technical activities:
  • Yield Assessments and optimisation of Wind Farms.
  • Definition of Basis of Design and Technical Specification for wind farms.
  • Definition of the Wind Farm layout and Balance of Plant main requirements.
  • Equipment specification and selection (e.g. wind turbine models, electrical BoP).
  • Revision of the Detailed Design of Wind farms to ensure that the engineering developed by the EPC contractor meets the project requirements and any applicable statutory and regulatory specification.
• Deliver and/or review technical inputs and engineering documents timely and with the adequate quality.
• Regular reporting to the project management on the status of the engineering activities.
• Ensure compliance with Worley’s standards and procedures, and that the right systems are in place and applied to the project. Support the development, preparation, implementation and follow-up of various plans (e.g. schedule, quality, execution, project and interface management) throughout the project during different stages and with all components.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Engineering Degree required. Master of Science preferred.

LANGUAGES

• English is requirement (written and spoken) and Spanish is preferred (written and spoken) skills, other languages (Arabic, French, others) skills are a plus.
• Ability to report in English, both verbal & in writing.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Relevant experience in Power Plants projects development, engineering and construction.

Relevant experience in Power & Renewable Energy technologies is required, particularly in the detailed design and/or construction of large Wind projects.

Technical Advisory experience (e.g. PMC, Owners Engineer, LTA, etc.) is preferred, but not mandatory.

International experience is required (multinational companies or across different countries and professional cultures). Middle East / Arabian Gulf experience is an asset.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

• Deep knowledge of wind technology and the execution of large projects.
• Good knowledge of design software: WindFarmer, WAsP
• Good knowledge of IEC, MEASNET and other relevant standards.
• Experience in wind resource assessments: site data QA/QC, uncertainty analysis, measurement campaign definition, inclusion of satellite data and long-term data sources, etc.

SOFTSKILLS

• Technical / hands-on profile with good communication are key requirements for this role.
• Responsible and honest.
• Must be a self-starter, with the ability to take responsibility for its own work, open to creativity.
• Good communication skills and an aptitude for taking initiatives are essential, as is the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
