Job description
Purpose:
The key role of this position is to lead a team of equipment engineers who:
- Provide input and assistance to the deployment of equipment, for new and existing ports facilities, and translate company’s objectives and operational requirements into the Employer’s Requirements and technical drawings.
- Evaluate the technical proposals and, in collaboration with Asset Category Management and Asset Management, selects suppliers, optimising cost and time while reducing risk.
- Accountable to carry out the technical review of the Equipment Design developed by suppliers, electrical and/or mechanical.
Overall responsibilities are the following:
- Manage a team of equipment engineers ensuring their performance and development: increase the hard knowledge of the team members.
- Drive equipment strategy based on APMT’s objectives, market development, technical feasibility and TCO (total cost of ownership) with effective anchoring of solutions.
- Relationship management with external stakeholders such as OEM head of engineering.
- Relationship management with internal stakeholders such as Modernization, Decarbonization Office, Ops Design, FLOW, Regional Head of Operations, Project Execution, PMO, Finance, Global Asset Management, Asset Category Management, CES.
- Participate in tender board, evaluating core team and suppliers’ proposals.
- Own the equipment standards and their continuous improvements: keep them updated with new technologies and learnings from the terminals, with guidelines that impact technical and safety performance.
- Together with Global Asset Management team ensure continuous feedback is received and considered based on actual operational use of equipment.
- Create and implement best practice Equipment Engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
- Provide fundamental inputs to develop equipment for new and existing ports facilities globally.
- Scope definition of equipment projects.
- Successfully delivering equipment requirements on time with target quality and fit-for-purpose.
CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in managing teams of engineers, with delivery focused, project related environment.
- Proven track record working in heavy equipment engineering, preferable in a Ports environment.
- Experience in an international/global environment is highly desired.
- Motor Drives, PLC systems, and able to review equipment electrical diagrams and automation systems, hydraulic and mechanic knowledge.

- Analytical thinker, data-driven mindset, dealing with sufficient details without losing the big picture.
- Collaboration and communication skills with empathy.
- Strong stakeholder management, especially with Senior Executives and Peer Functions.
- Ability to motivate and inspire self and others through ambiguity and changes.
Education
- MSc or BSc in Electronic, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
