Worldsensing products have been pioneering the industrial IoT since 2008. We’re looking for a stand-out Cloud Software Tech Leader to join the Engineering department in our Barcelona office.

Founded in 2008, Worldsensing works with more than 300 engineering partners worldwide to improve geotechnical, geospatial and structural monitoring in mining, construction, rail and critical infrastructure management. 

With over 1,000 monitoring networks deployed worldwide and connecting over 65,000 sensors to the Internet of Things, our Loadsensing solution is the leader in the IoT remote monitoring space.

The Loadsensing monitoring solution includes best-in-class edge devices and LoRa-based connectivity products. We also join forces with key industry players to offer software applications and solutions which engineering service providers use to add value to end customers.

The Mission:

The mission of the Tech Leader is a critical role in Worldsensing. This role’s primary focus is the development, definition, and deployment of software solutions for our products, whilst ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from and to these products.

The mission of the Tech Leader is also to design, help and guide the development and maintenance of our Cloud solutions.

Aside from supporting the development of our Cloud, you are actively promoting constructive and interdepartmental discussions and acting as an internal technical ambassador within your area.

Responsibilities:

• Help manage and maintain relationships with product owners and other technical team members at clients and partners.
• Discuss proposals with the internal “clients” and write the specifications of the product.
• Use technical skills to close the gaps between new requirements and Worldsensing products.
• You will act as a mentor and provide direction, instructions, and guidance to the team at a technical level.
• Delivery of the company’s core platform and multiple cloud applications.
• Commitment to the deployment of the software solutions in cloud servers, documentation, quality engineering, testing, and support.
• Work with colleagues to design new systems and change to existing ones.
• Ensure compatibility with third party devices and consistent performance in specified operating environments;
• Support in the deployment of the software solutions in cloud servers.
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
• Collaborate with the team to carry out project planning
• Collaborate with technicians, craftspeople, and other colleagues

• Perform code reviews for other software engineers and provide feedback.

• Understand Worldsensing products to be able to define the engineering specs.
• On-call support may be required to support a 24/7 online service.
• Collaborate and help in the definition of European Union Innovation projects.

Requirements

• Experience working with an agile/lean method of work.
• You are highly responsible for delivering software developments on time and with high-quality standards.
• Previous hands-on experience in engineering, working on software development or architecture.
• Experience working on cloud software based on micro-services.
• 5+ years of software development experience, both in back-end and frontend applications.
• 3+ years with Python and ideally FastAPI framework.
• Good experience with Linux environments.
• Experience with Docker.
• Experience with Kubernetes is a plus.
• Have a focus on Customer Experience, for example in the design of user-friendly interfaces.
• Experience working closely with product owners and product managers to understand the requirements technically before transferring them to the team.

• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, preferably Git.

• Experience with IoT is a plus.
• Strong language skills in English. Spanish is a plus.
• BS degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• A good level of spoken and written English is required.
• International experience - cultural adaptation.
