Job description
Joining the team reporting to the Service Delivery Manager of a Juniper Key Account, the Network Engineerrole is a highly technical position that involves providing post-sales remote support for Juniper Networks Products. As part of a technical team collaborating with colleagues from Professional Services and Advanced Services, the Senior Network Engineer will be instrumental in developing and maintaining expertise in the deployed products within the customers network.
This is a part-time position , offering the flexibility to work remotely, demanding strong commitment and dedication to ensuring customer success.
- Provide technical support, including:
- Conduct design and information gathering workshops to understand the customer’s existing network design and technical requirements for new network designs
Comprehend the customer’s organizational structure, becoming familiar with the network implementation and support processes to aid in designing a network that is both available and sustainable. - Test new features and functionality in a laboratory environment and ensure their proper implementation in the live network.
- Test patches and fixes to operating software, ensuring they are correctly implemented in the live network.
- Troubleshoot equipment and network problems, assisting JTAC with technical cases through to resolution.
- Perform network optimization and configuration reviews.
- Produce written summary reports on the status of equipment and network problems regularly.
- Conduct technology workshops, knowledge transfer workshops, and assist in developing Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures for the customer.
- Collaborate with other employees in similar resident engineering roles for knowledge sharing and risk mitigation associated with major network upgrades or changes.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience providing implementation and technical support for networking products (routers and switches) in WAN and LAN environments.
Ideal Candidate Credentials:
- Detailed understanding of protocols in IP service provider networks, including TCP/IP fundamentals, IP sub-netting, super-netting, hierarchical routing principles, routing protocol operation (OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP, IPv6, BGP), routing policies at BGP peering points, and VPNs with associated tunnelling technologies (L2TP, MPLS, etc.).
- Technical experience in the installation and operation of switches and IP routers, hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for complex issues at both device and network levels in a multi-vendor environment, capable of isolating and identifying configuration, design, and product issues.
- Previous experience with Juniper Networks products (MX, PTX, EX, QFX, SRX devices) and JUNOS software.
- Comfortable with Linux or other UNIX implementations, with scripting skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a diverse, multicultural team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, capable of working efficiently on multiple projects under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, able to articulate findings clearly in written and verbal communications targeting different audiences: technical and non-technical, staff, and management.
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Fluent in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).
The following credentials are advantageous for this position:
- Juniper Networks Technical Certifications: JNCIS or JNCIP.
- Previous experience in network design, installation, and deployment with MX, EX, QFX, PTX in a Service Provider or large enterprise environment.
- Automation/scripting skills.
