Science Outreach & Education Officer (Ref: MGMT 202409)

The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Science Outreach and Education Officer to work in the Outreach Unit.

This position will be funded by the State Research Agency/Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation through the Severo Ochoa Centres of Excellence Program 2019 (CEXS MCIN/AEI/10.13039/).

ICIQ is one of the worlds internationally recognized leading institutions in the field of chemistry committed to solving major social and economic challenges by conducting top quality research in three main areas: Sustainable Catalysis Renewable Energy and Health . The institute also aims at training the future generation of scientists by offering highquality educational programs to master PhD students and postdoctoral researchers (full details on ).

The Science Outreach and Education Officer will be responsible for raising public awareness of chemical research as key factor in the progress of a sustainable society. S/he will particularly establish and maintain a close relationship with the educational community and institutions ICIQ collaborates with. The person will possess excellent communication skills capable of working with people of all ages and ability to create engagement content.

S/he will report to the Outreach Manager and will work in close collaboration with ICIQ group leaders and researchers.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Support in designing and implementing ICIQs strategy for outreach and education programs and activities in particular those directly related to the ICIQ Severo Ochoa Strategic Plan(CEXS MCIN/AEI/10.13039/).
• Coordinate and carry out ICIQs current activities (courses workshops science fairs online resources). This involves working 13 Saturday per year.
• Outreach laboratory management (safety logistics maintenance).

• Elaborate proposals for new outreach and education activities and foster collaborations with other institutions promoting science education.
• Participate in writing science outreach projects to obtain funding from private and public institutions.

• Create educational content and materials.

• Contribute to other communication initiatives within the Communications Unit.

Candidates Profile:

• Finished degree in Chemistry is required (please note that having a PhD might be an advantage).

Training in scientific communication and proven experience in science outreach and education.

• Good English level (C1) Catalan (preferably C1) and Spanish.

• Ability to interact with faculty students coworkers and the general public in a professional manner.
• Driving license with own car.

LICIQ s una de les principals institucions del mn reconegudes internacionalment en el camp de la qumica compromesa amb la resoluci de grans reptes socials i econmics mitjanant la realitzaci dinvestigaci de mxima qualitat en tres rees principals: Catlisi Sostenible Energia Renovable i Salut. El/La Tcnic de Divulgaci i Educaci Cientfica ser responsable de sensibilitzar al pblic sobre la recerca qumica com a factor clau en el progrs duna societat sostenible. En particular establir i mantindr una estreta relaci amb la comunitat educativa i les institucions amb les quals collabora lICIQ. La persona tindr excellents habilitats de comunicaci ser capa de treballar amb persones de totes les edats i capacitat per crear contingut interessant i atractiu.

Ell/a informar a la Responsable de Divulgaci i Educaci Cientfica i treballar en estreta collaboraci amb els investigadors de lICIQ.

Responsabilitats:

• Suport en el disseny i implementaci de lestratgia de lICIQ per a programes i activitats de divulgaci i educaci en particular aquelles directament relacionades amb el Pla Estratgic Severo Ochoa(CEXS MCIN/AEI/10.13039/).
• Coordinar i dur a terme les activitats actuals de lICIQ (cursos tallers fires cientfiques recursos en lnia casals destiu). Aix comporta treballar 13 dissabtes a lany.
• Gesti del laboratori de Divulgaci i Educaci Cientfica (seguretat logstica manteniment).

• Elaborar propostes per a noves activitats de divulgaci i educaci i fomentar collaboracions amb altres institucions que promoguin leducaci cientfica.
• Participar en la redacci de projectes de divulgaci cientfica per obtenir finanament dinstitucions privades i pbliques.
• Crear contingut i materials educatius.

• Contribuir a altres iniciatives de comunicaci dins del Departament dImpacte Comunicaci i Estratgia.

Requeriments:

• Titulaci universitria en qumica (tenir un doctorat ser un avantatge).

Formaci en comunicaci cientfica i experincia provada en divulgaci i educaci cientfica.

• Bon nivell dangls (C1) catal (nivell avanat preferiblement C1) i castell.

• Capacitat per interactuar amb investigadors els estudiants els companys de treball i el pblic en general de manera professional.
• Llicncia de conducci amb cotxe propi.
