Job description
Biofuels Trader Mission The Biofuels and Chemicals Trading Desk is responsible for all trading activities within Biofuels products, Biofuels feedstocks and Chemicals. The mandate is to maximise and contribute to the overall profit of the team through trading (buy/ sell), managing profit/loss and risk for the assigned area and ensuring a competitive feedstock supply chain to galp production assets and existing Tolling agreements. Responsible for physical trading activity within approved risk and resource limits; supports the execution of the trading desk’s strategy and its related tasks; accountable for the trades and impact to the profit and loss of the book as well as managing the associated risks with the trades. What you’ll do Make trading decisions to maximise returns within company’s policies and procedures; Decide and negotiate deals; Deal validation with compliance; assurance with Operations, Contracts team, Risk management and Shipping; Keep up-to-date on market information and knowledge management, and reflect market insights in trading strategies and positions; Identify and correct mapping P&L and exposures in the Galp Systems; Monitor all open trading contracts and positions on a daily basis; identify the associated price exposures and develop a daily plan to hedge existing exposures with the derivatives desk; Work closely with product’s scheduler/operation to ensure smooth logistics and operations for the traded product; Prepare market reports, business plans and performance targets as required; Follow different regulatory frameworks across Europe; Make a trading note with fundamentals for each trade; What you’ll need Preferably possess Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics or a related discipline; More than 3 years of biofuels physical trading experience or operations in a trading house; Solid knowledge/understanding of global biofuels markets and sustainability/ traceability schemes; Strong communication and analytical skills; Well-informed of the world product demand and supply, market dynamics, and arbitrage opportunities; Well-connected with end-users and counterparties worldwide; Industry knowledge: supply/demand fundamentals of physical market, product grades and quality specifications, competitors, marine operations, third-party system parameters, standard terms and conditions of contracts, knowledge of the global energy business, refinery economics/drivers, understands the value of variations in specification, timing, and volume; Trading knowledge: market direction/call, trading strategies, trading fundamentals, global markets, arbitrage, market sentiment events and geo-political environment; Paper trading knowledge: risk analysis techniques, hedging /speculative / price forecasting instruments, economic evaluation and analysis, understands concepts such as NPV, value creation, and option value; Good working knowledge of Trading systems, Price and News reporting platforms (Reuters, Bloomberg) and MS Office tools.
