The Software Engineering Manager leads three or more software development teams comprising of software developers, QA engineers and their respective Team Leads. The role is responsible for growing high-performance teams that correctly apply and continuously improve their technology, process and management practices. The SEM is accountable for their teams delivering the objectives to which the teams committed. They maintain sight on the big pucture to make sure technology, practices and architecture are properly aligned.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Be a point of reference and be consulted for the technology stack and the software architecture of their teams’ applications, ensuring engineering excellence
- Oversee the software design and the implementation of the developed applications, ensuring functional and non-functional requirements are properly met
- Contribute to decisions on code, application and solution architecture, together with engineering peers and software and infrastructure architects
- Participate in trouble-shooting and problem-solving initiatives
- Ensure all team members and their leads understand and are capable of applying the agreed software development methodologies and practices in order to provide work efficiency, transparency on performance and challenges, as well as to allow for predictable delivery and
reliable product roadmap planning - Contribute to the creation and improvement of the product development roadmap together with peers, product owners, product managers and other stakeholders
- Set goals to teams for achieving business objectives, follow through to completion
- Perform reviews, appraisals and regular feedback sessions with team members and leads
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in a similar position, demonstrating a deep understanding of software engineering and management.
- Proficiency: Solid expertise in .NET Core, C#, and SQL Server, along with experience in agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Architecture: Proven experience in the design and development of microservice architectures, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
- Development “in the cloud”: Experience with creating and maintaining applications in Azure, AWS or GCP
