As Staff Data Engineer, you will join our growing data and engineering organization to own and lead the data engineering domain. You will play a pivotal role in building and shaping the function, including architecture, technology, ways of working and more. You will work closely with other technical teams and leads to enable data-driven decision-making and achieve common objectives.
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the entire data engineering area and have significant organizational impact but also comes with plenty of challenges and high expectations. Striking the right balance between long-term strategy and short-term deliverables will be crucial for success.
Your responsibilities
In a nutshell, you are expected to own and evolve our data platform to enable data-driven decision-making, foster innovation, drive growth and ultimately contribute to air up's success.
- Design and Build: Design, build and evolve robust platforms and systems to support air up's evolving needs for analytics and decision intelligence.
- Ingest and Integrate: Ensure consistent data integration and flow across various systems, enhancing the quality and accessibility of data.
- Drive Technical Excellence: Implement best practices, DataOps, observability, etc. to maximize technological leverage and ensure data accuracy and accessibility, safeguarding the integrity of our data assets.
- Lead and Collaborate: Be the technical leader for your area. Work closely with and mentor other data engineers. Collaborate across teams and functions to understand data needs and provide innovative and effective solutions.
That's you
- You hold a degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, equipping you with a solid foundation in analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- You have at least 10 years of hands-on experience as a software or data engineer, with at least 3 years in technical leadership roles (Lead/Staff Engineer or similar). Ideally, you’ve spent a significant portion of your career being part of high-performing software engineering teams.
- You are proficient in one or more programming languages and have strong knowledge of modern data architectures, platforms, technologies, and paradigms, including strong expertise with cloud services like AWS or GCP and their data-related offerings.
- You are deeply experienced in designing, building and maintaining scalable and reliable data pipelines, platforms, and infrastructure.
- You are a strong advocate for agile and lean methodologies as well as DevOps and engineering best practices, understanding that they accelerate learning, delivery and drive success.
- You are a strong problem solver, who thrives in ambiguity and dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- You are not only exceptional at your work, but also humble, open-minded, and a pleasure to work with and be around.
