The Staff Product Designer is a pivotal role entrusted with the framing and development of innovative concepts and the creation of designs at various levels of fidelity. Working within a distributed cross-functional team that includes designers, engineers, user researchers, product managers, and marketers, this individual will play a key role in implementing and delivering digital user experiences for Affinidi Products.
As a design leader, the Staff Product Designer will champion customer needs, ensuring that designs not only meet standards but also provide delightful experiences. They will translate the complexity of cutting-edge tech projects into beautiful digital experiences, becoming a reference for aesthetics and taste throughout the product design process.
In addition to design responsibilities, this role involves providing leadership, coaching, mentorship, and guidance to the team and across the business. The Staff Product Designer will actively engage in reflective conversations, encourage continuous learning, and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Human-Centric Iteration
- Actively seeks and incorporates feedback from stakeholders to enhance design outcomes.
- Makes realizable, inventive, innovative, and cross-device recommendations to champion customer needs.
- Ensures aesthetic, layout, composition, and information architecture align with the overall product ecosystem.
Continuous Learning and Development
- Expands personal design capabilities and leadership skills to elevate team excellence.
- Maintains templates, design libraries, documentation, assets, personas, and design mock-ups across projects.
- Develops and maintains internal design processes to adapt to evolving user and business needs.
Knowledge Sharing and Coaching
- Shares insights from personal development, guiding others through reflective questioning for new insights.
- Sets the tone and direction for the design team, providing necessary information for project execution.
- Collaborates closely with engineering to understand platform capabilities and facilitate ideation for creative technology solutions.
Adaptive Leadership and Collaboration
- Engages in reflective conversations to understand diverse perspectives and strengthen the innovation process.
- Socializes the design vision to inspire and influence product prioritization and innovation.
- Contributes to the production of design guidelines, vision demos, and prototypes aligned with brand narratives.
Resilient Support and Coaching
- Provides coaching and support to keep the team productive despite incomplete information or challenging situations.
- Creates research plans, collaborates with research teams, interprets findings, and applies them to enhance user experiences.
- Sets up and runs design thinking workshops, using outputs to guide the team through various stages of the UX design process.
Market and User Analysis
- Analyses industry best practices, client feedback, new vendor offerings, and market competitive analyses.
- Works with data from user testing to improve designs and ensure they meet users’ needs.
Basic Q ualifications:
- Relevant degrees such as Bachelor's in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Computer, Psychology, or Industrial Design with equivalent work experience.
- Mastery of design theory, and prototyping tools.
- Strong aesthetic sense mixed with an excellent technical background.
- Significant track record delivering tangible products and services to market, with at least 8 years of experience designing cross-platform products from conceptualisation to continuous improvement.
- Possess a data-oriented mindset that will be able to extract insights from qualitative and quantitative data sources.
- Have a passion for elevating the practice of design across the organisation.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
- Are detail-oriented with an outstanding portfolio of work demonstrating strong end-to-end design competencies across a diverse range of projects.
These qualifications will help you stand out:
- Experience in more than one design or research discipline.
- Experience conceptualising and launching digital products in different geographies.
- Experience creating or contributing to an established design system.
- Experience designing for different platforms and devices.
- You’re iterative, intuitive, inventive, and innovative, and you love to solve wicked problems.
- You're a multi-disciplined designer, such as in illustration, animation, motion, interaction, or other.
- You’re familiar with our design stack: Miro, Figma and Zeplin, we track our tasks in Jira, and we document our projects in Confluence.
