The Technical Rooms Specialist is involved with all aspects of technical room and labs operations, from basic rack layouts and construction to the network and hardware arrangements throughout the racks, including providing troubleshooting and repair support for the racks. The Technical Rooms Specialist manages accurate inventories of labs and technical rooms, as well as coordinating purchases to cover all equipment needs. The area of responsibility is maintaining and managing the operations of all labs and technical rooms at the SPI Wessling facility, and planning new rack expansions and determine facility capabilities.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Assist with and perform troubleshooting on electronic assemblies
• Contact person for support technicians in creating / troubleshooting test racks
• Create and update engineering drawings of racks needed in technical rooms
• Document test racks, including list of components and wiring diagrams
• Determine requirements for new hardware purchases
• Organize the engineering stockroom in a logical manner to store and protect materials
• Ensure that materials are properly identified, and quantities are correct
• Coordinate with other engineering and program teams to prioritize test racks
• Train employees that need to use the technical rooms
• Maintain procedures and work instructions related to labs and technical rooms
• Run or support regular 5S audits in labs and technical rooms
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• Successfully completed technical training as an electronics technician or equivalent experience in a related field
• Broad knowledge of electronic and electromechanical components
• Experience with satellite communication and radio frequency technique is advantageous
• Previous experience as an engineering lab technician, assemble/repair line tech or related professional experience is desirable
• Skilled in use of lab instruments (multimeter, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking and/or Linux is desirable
