Job Description:

Degree from a four-year college or university program with an emphasis in accounting, finance or related field required. A minimum of 6 years accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Prior experience in fund level accounting required with real estate accounting or fund accounting software systems. Requires prior supervisory experience. CPA, CMA or other relevant professional certifications a plus. Focused on hiring for fund accounting experience with knowledge of US GAAP Investment Company Guide (equity pickup and/or dividend method).
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents.
- Will coordinate quarterly activities with direct reports, review property and fund level financials
- Manages client relationships for various funds.
- Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms, principles and compliance. Ability to calculate complex figures.
- Ability to create cash forecast and distribution calculations.
- Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.
- Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations.
- Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience.
- Advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite Products).
- Ability to work in multiple accounting software applications.
- Manages multiple fund accounting teams to provide accurate and timely client reporting for assigned portfolios of investment funds.
- Implements processes to ensure compliance with reporting requirements. Plays a key role in the implementation and maintenance of the accounting systems.
- Troubleshoots escalated issues and ensures internal and external customer requests are handled timely, accurately and with a focus on customer service. Creates a positive customer experience by opening and maintaining constructive and reliable lines of communication.
- Participates and/or leads all aspects of internal and external property and client transitions. Works with other internal teams in handling special requirements as defined in the Management Agreement and scope of services in the Financial Services Agreement.
- Verifies and ensures accounting team's debt, real estate tax, sales tax and owner distribution payments are made timely and internal databases are updated and maintained accordingly .
- May review staff work products, including financial packages, to ensure their complete, accurate and timely release to internal departments and external clients. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values. Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve general results. Responsible for setting department deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to co-workers, supervisor, department and/or line of business.
