About The Department
Amid decarbonization of the energy, transport and industrial sectors, green hydrogen is becoming ever more important. Fichtner has more than three decades of experience in technologies for hydrogen production, infrastructure and usage. In fact, we possess expertise and project experience at all levels of detail – from modeling energy systems, to designing plants and devising usage concepts, through to implementing projects.
We assist our clients in finding technically feasible and economically viable solutions for using hydrogen, and we support projects throughout all phases from the initial concept through to commissioning.

Senior Engineer / Project Manager in Hydrogen Transport and Storage (m/f/x)
Your Tasks
In our challenging projects, you will be deployed in a variety of ways according to your personal strengths. In doing so, you will work on tasks independently and thus make an important contribution to the success of the project. You will take responsibility in the handling of projects and present your results to our clients. The main focus of your work will be on:
- Performing techno-economic design and evaluation of hydrogen transport options from pipelines, to ships, to innovative technologies such as LOHC
- Planning technical facilities for hydrogen production, transport, distribution and storage
- Performing technical analysis and evaluation of hydrogen projects, project portfolios and existing infrastructures for investors (due diligence)
- Assisting with project management and control
- Advising clients throughout the entire duration of the project
Your Profile
- Interest in a varied field of work with both conceptual elements and detailed technical planning
- Good technical knowledge from having completed a university degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering or similar
- Initial professional experience in planning or project handling of natural gas networks, pipelines, gas pressure regulating and metering stations, cavern storage facilities, refinery gas networks or biogas plants would be an advantage
- Knowledge in the field of technical facilities for the production, transport or storage of ammonia or methanol would be an advantage
- Knowledge of technical regulations such as DVGW, ASME, API, etc. would be an advantage
- Initial knowledge of programming would be an advantage
- A very good command English. Good knowledge of German is a big plus
- Motivated team player
- Willingness to travel as part of projects on a short-term basis, with travel assignments accounting for <10-20% of your work
