Senior Application Engineer (Appleton, WI)
Voith U.S. Inc. is seeking a Senior Application Engineer (Appleton, WI) to analyze customers’ technical specification for paper industry. Define integration and implementation of products into customers’ systems and equipment. Provide input in design and development of equipment and systems specially to push regional needs in a global scenario. Develop technical sales proposals of company’s product. Combine existing solutions to fulfill customers’ needs. Conduct dimensioning calculation and simulations using proprietary software. Report on investigating warranty cases. Engage in direct customer contact and serve as link to Voith centers of competence for each product. Prepare detailed internal success studies and/or lessons learned. Maintain customer, job and drawing files per Engineering Department Standards. Participate in engineering and general design review as required. Interact with customers on engineering design and answer any questions/problems they may have. Lead internal and external trainings, involving customers, sub suppliers, different department and board of management. Keep supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work assignments. Local telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week. 20% domestic travel and 5% international travel required.
Job Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Paper Engineering or related field and 7 years of experience in applying technical capabilities of paper making machines to customer needs. Must have experience with: Fabric cleaning systems to analyze its application, benefits, risks and return on investment; Integrated lubrication device installed at press felts, to study installation position recommendation, prepare budget and firm proposals, including warranties related to water consumption; Vacuum pump components to calculate design operating parameters, such as vacuum level and consumption; Coating and Sizing equipment to prepare budget and firm quotes; Analyzing the suitable equipment for different application, solids content and final product; Drying calculation; Project screening tool and process to support bid no-bid decisions; Estimating (cost and labor); CAMOS O4P to prepare configuration, insert costs (local and Intragroup), factors, define assignments and export final prices; Working knowledge in SAP platform; Sales Force to visualize, analyze and create Dashboards; Management figures, such as calc. OP, EBIT, OR, Sales, MS and WR; Heavy machinery design such as paper machinery; Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Preparing presentations & sales pitches for paper making machines. 20% domestic travel and 5% international travel required.
