The Pelagic Microbiology Group at the ICBM (Institute of Biology and Chemistry of the Marine Environment) of the University of Oldenburg, Germany, offers a position as a
Research Assistant (f/m/d)
(salary according to E13 TV-L, 100%)
starting latest August 2024 and limited to five years from starting date. The position offers the possibility of habilitation. The position is suitable for part-time work.
The main goal of the research assistant is to investigate microbial associations and interactions in aquatic environments. To do this, we will use a combination of cultivation and state of the art technologies such as metagenomics and metabolomics. Some specific research lines that could be investigated relate to streamlining, auxotrophies, symbiotic relationship continuum and microbial use and production of dissolved organic matter, among others. The project provides ample opportunities to develop research ideas as well as to establish collaborations within the ICBM and internationally.
We are seeking for an innovative, energetic, and collaborative individual. While research skills related to the above-mentioned topics are of merit, the duration of the position will also allow the successful applicant to acquire further computational and wet lab skills. Moreover, we expect participation in teaching courses in the field of marine microbial ecology.
