The Hydrogen for Mobility (H2fM) Business Development Manager builds Air Products H2fM business in the west of Germany. Specifically, the position will have full responsibility for activities related to the identification, development and commercial execution of investment activities associated with Air Products strategic growth platform of H2 for Mobility.
Several European countries and cities are mandating the uptake of zero emission vehicles through public procurement processes. Projects will primarily involve larger scale captive fleet (bus, train, ships) fuelling stations, as well as to support fleet fuelling projects for heavy duty trucks. Air Products seeks to be the market leader in providing end-to-end hydrogen refuelling solutions to fleet operators, providing hydrogen molecules together with complete refuelling infrastructure including operation and maintenance services. In addition to the hydrogen fuelling stations, Air Products is also actively building the facilities required to produce, compress, and deliver the hydrogen required by these fuel stations. The business plan is to generate revenue and profit by supplying hydrogen molecules to those stations for the long term.
The main (but not exclusive) focus of the role will be NRW region in Germany.
As Business Development Manager, you will: - Identify and develop business opportunities including generating leads and responding to tenders.
- Build relationships with potential customers/partners and with influencing bodies (H2 fuel cell vehicle OEMS, governments, logistics organisations, local economic development forums, etc)
- Act as our Commercial Sales Lead for H2fM opportunities.
- Targeted & measured on new project wins / of installs / volume of H2 sold.
- Provide commercial support to the projects currently being executed in the region
- Work with internal functions to ensure smooth start of fueling operations for customers, including customer set up and billing.
- Work with the H2 sourcing manager to settle appropriate sourcing strategy for the country.
- Work with Government relations to understand and positively influence the regulatory framework that influences this business and to understand and secure public funds which are available to support the transition to zero emission transport.
- Advise the internal team (including corporate functions such as Treasury, Tax and Law) in the business development and execution process.
- Represent Air Products at hydrogen energy industry associations.
- Support marketing activities by representing AP at trade fairs, conferences and exhibitions.
- Providing input to future product design to ensure they meet local requirements.
Your profile: - You'll ideally have a Bachelor / Master's degree or an apprenticeship and have first work experience in Sales or Business Development. Work experience with alternative fuels is a big advantage.
- A self-starter with a results-oriented mind-set who will take ownership of multiple projects from inception to hand-over, working as part of a coordinated team.
- Ability to work well with a cross functional, international team with external stakeholders and provide leadership to a variety of internal functional groups in order to develop and execute proposals and projects.
- You have excellent Contract negotiation skills and an understanding of financial transactions.
- Strong relationship and network building skills.
- Language skills: Proficiency in German and English.
