There is the option for extension
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 8-12 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 14,00 € per hour until March 31, 2024, and 15,20 € from April 1, 2024.

Ihr Profil

You have/are

• a Bachelor's degree and are enrolled in a consecutive course in engineering (civil, mechanical, computational engineering, or similar)
• Very good knowledge of Python (Numpy, PyTorch/Tensorflow)
• Familiarity with or a strong interest in neural networks and machine learning concepts
• Fluency in English
• Understanding of computational mechanics is a plus
• Experience with physics-informed neural networks and Github is advantageous, but not essential 

Ihre Aufgaben

We're seeking a motivated Research Assistant with Bachelor's degree (f/m/d) to contribute to two key areas: the development of a new course titled "Physics Informed Machine Learning Applications for Geotechnical Engineering" and support for ongoing projects related to numerical modelling of frozen soil.

• Actively participate in creating course materials, which includes coding examples, exercises, and potentially aiding in instructional content.
• Provide support to students by addressing their inquiries and elucidating course concepts.
• Assist ongoing projects that focus on numerically modeling frozen soil, utilizing PINNs and finite element method for addressing the complex multi-physics problem.
• Contribute to data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
