PhD position in experimental B physics at the DESY Belle II group

Remuneration Group 13 | Limited: 3 years | Starting date: earliest possible | ID: FHDO004/2024 | Deadline: 02.04.2024 | Full-time/Part-time

The recently established Helmholtz Young Investigator Group of Dr. Thibaud Humair in DESY Belle II group is seeking to hire a PhD student. After a shutdown in 2023, the Belle II experiment in Japan has just restarted collecting data in February 2024. The DESY Belle II group is involved in data analyses focusing on B- and tau-physics. In addition, the group is involved in the commissioning of the Belle II pixel vertex detector and in the development of the tracking software. The PhD position is based at DESY Hamburg, with an affiliation with the University of Goettingen, which will grant the doctoral degree.

DESY in Hamburg does not grant doctoral degrees directly but collaborates with the University of Goettingen. Candidates for thesis research will have to satisfy the terms of admission for doctoral theses of the University. PhD students receive a monthly salary of 67% of the payment of the remuneration group 13 TVöD (Federal

Government).
